My brother has a 2009 MF 4015 Hydrostatic tractor. He bought a rear 3 point snowblower for it but had to get a pto drive shaft seperatly. The shop he bought the shaft from sold him one saying it was the one he needed.
So my brother connects the snowthrower, the shaft and the hydraulics for the first time. He raised the three point hitch and feels an intense popping coming from the rear. Lowers it back down and noticed the rear PTO shaft was pushed into the transmisison.
It cost him $8,000 to get it repaired because they had to take apart the entire transmission.
Make sure your drive shafts are the right length-better to be too short than too long.
He can't go after the shop that sold it to him because they are firends supposedly :)

A pto drive shaft has to be custom cut to the proper length to fit between a tractor and the implement.

Yeah, all of the 3pt shaft attachments I've purchased specifically mention checking that and cutting the shaft, if needed.

All PTO shafts need to be checked for correct length for each specific tractor and cut to the correct length, if needed. They are all different. Ken Sweet

I did nearly the same thing when I purchased a 3pt snow blower last winter. I'm still new to the tractor thing and had no idea the shaft needd to be cut. I cut it enough to get it mounted and ran it for a week, it had zero play. I trimmed it some more and ran it the rest of the season. I avoided the big $$ hurt. Salesmen shouldn't assume such things
