Warning for all

   / Warning for all #61
If a drone is flying low over my property, and does not leave, it will get a load of 7 1/2’s. I have a right to privacy. I have 20 acres, backing on to 4000 acres of state land. The drone has no business hovering near me.

Stuff isn't worth taking a life over, agreed. Ever watch the tv show "Stop The Threat"? They have real life scenarios etc. and the occasional lawyer present and they all say the same thing, each bullet that leaves your gun has $100K attached to it.

I disagree, one of our local LEO's said "If you can justify the first shot, all the rest are free. Even if you stop to reload."

The secret to drone management is to wait until the camera is pointing away from you and the drone is moving away. Because of the digital transport delay in signals, a blast from the past has not yet been recorded (in my most bountiful 'sperience'). When the perps come wandering in looking for their toy, I demand they give me their wallet which can be picked up at the Sate Police post 5 miles away along with a copy of my trespassing complaint. (With full identification, of course). Because I live about a mile from a small airport, the perp(s) have to chose their poison: me or the FAA.

It is actually interesting that people claim they won't shoot a thief as if theft is always the reason that people sneak onto your property. Well, the original intent may be theft, but since these folks don't announce that little fact; for the homeowner it is: Somebody is sneaking around here in the dark. Dark plus sneaking means threat. Perhaps we should announce it in the local papers "Warning: all thieves - please announce to homeowners that you are here only to steal stuff and not harm anyone." If they'd do that, maybe my wife won't get her shotgun out....... maybe.

So, you would allow some ol' pervy lech to spy on your daughters or your wife?
I'm just pointing out the law, it's up to you what you want to do about it.

Sure glad I still live in a "Right to Defend Life and Property" State! I would never want to shoot anyone but circumstances could dictate that action.

I had a drone fly over - hover and land in one of my fields. This was last summer. So I did get my shot gun - why??? - h e l l, who knows - and went out there. It was still there - not running and by its size - not a private drone. One central gasoline engine - four outboard propellers - engine was twin cylinder - Yamaha - about 100 cc or so. It had a pretty good sized gimbaled camera hanging under it. Called the State Police - they came with a van - picked it up - never heard another word about it. Next time I'll consider keeping it - ha,ha.

And, as said by Doofy, you hover a drone over my property - where I can get at it - by God, you can consider it a goner. I don't give a rat's azz about aircraft laws or not - you hover over my property - you are spying on me - your azz is toast.

One of my favorite sayings - - "Dead men tell no lies".

You know - somebody on this thread mentioned - why would anybody want to check on my property. That's what I've always thought - been out here 36+ years. However - I've had three occasions that have altered my thinking. Twice a small - twin seat - unmarked, black helicopter hovered over my property. FAA's answer - there is no such thing as an unmarked aircraft - well, sorry, but I tend to differ with that statement. One time a Super Cub buzzed me out on the big lake several times. Two guys in the Cub - passenger taking pictures like a mad man.

I'm not paranoid but I guess it pays to be cautious.

Go ahead, you'll be doing time in the Federal pen for shooting down an aircraft... also surrendering your right to own a firearm. Then who will look after your wife and kids... who no doubt are smart enough not to nude sunbath when a drone is nearby anyways?

Jstpssng - - you have got to be kidding. You are saying the federal law does not allow a person to defend their property. I am sorry, fellow, but you are wrong.

You can take your liberal voice and stand way over there on the left side where nobody will bother or hurt you.

I didn't say that at all... I am merely pointing out what the Federal law states. A drone is an aircraft by FAA standards. An unmanned aircraft system (UAS), sometimes called a drone, is an aircraft without a human pilot onboard – instead, the UAS is controlled from an operator on the ground. Here is the link Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Feel free to look further to find out what the penalty is for shooting down an aircraft... I don't need that to show up on my search engine.

editI'm done with this.end edit I didn't mean to send this down to the political forum yet I merely stated the law; and if you give me attitude, you're going to get it right back.
There are too many people who feel that their right to own a gun allows them the privilege to shoot at whatever they like; and that attitude is merely giving fodder to those who feel we shouldn't be able to have them.
