Probably covered before but does anyone care to cast a vote (again on election Tuesday) on which heater you prefer? We're looking again to put one in for heat when the power goes out.

We need more information on what you are trying to heat, electric/kerosene/propane poweered??

Are you sure you want a radiant heater and not a convection one??

One problem with the propane units is they smell and also cause condensation in the room. For short term emergency use this probably would not be an issue.

NOTE: I don't think I would want to sleep in room with one of these without a small amount of "make-up" air from out side.

I'll weigh in. We "inherited" three of these propane units when we bought our place. Dependent on non-natural gas sources, out here.

After trying them for a bit, I sold them all on Craigs. The smell perhaps is tolerable, but the water produced isn't. It would create a severe mold, mildew and wooden window damage, at least in our usage. Fine for a garage or shop, but not an insulated, buttoned up house. Just way too much water.

I put it a Empire vented propane space heater. Yes, they are certainly more money, but quite efficient, noise free, produces 4 times the btu and can operate with convection just fine without electricity. Heats the whole 1300 square ft, full finished basement house without breaking a sweat, and that is in our weather, here at 45th parallel. FWIW

We have been using a Duo-Glow propane radiant ventless wall heater for 5 winters now.......It is mounted to an outside wall back in our sun room, home theatre, wife's puter video editing suite.......We have 2 heat pumps but this will be the 4th winter of NEVER turning them on due to using wood. 27 acres of oak and hickory...............

This room, 15 X 26, is at the end of a hallway and even using a fan in the hallway to distribute the heat towards that area, it is hard to really get it warm due to the 12 windows in the room and being isolated from the heat source................Yes, if we get the house up into the 80's the room does get toasty.............

In those 5 years we have filled our 200 gallon tank twice as besides the outdoor bbq grill this is the only appliance that uses it..................When it is a 40-50 degree day and down in the 30's or lower at night my wife tends to turn it on..........

NO moisture problems, the pilot is a no brainer to light, has a thermostat that kicks in, NO SMELL and YES we do check that out but has NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM.........We have a fume alarm that has NEVER sent an alarm...............

YES, well worth doing and using as a space heater..........God bless.......Dennis
