Vehicle Oil changes

At $174 per oil change, I start thinking one of those garage lifts would be a better investment long term, especially considering that the oil change place could strip your oil drain threads.
I'd have a 4-post now if I had a way to get it off the truck. They won't drop it with a lift gate, and it weighs too much for my tractor w/FEL. They said have it delivered to a business and pick it up with a trailer. I said, I don't have a trailer and how would I get it off the trailer if I did have one? 😏

Pretty much since forever, I've always done my own oil changes in vehicles; except of coarse work vehicles. Wife got a 2019 Charger RT a while back, and it won't go on ramps, and Way to low to crawl under, so I've had my son run it up to the non-chain tire/lube place I take work car. It's always been expensive (IMO) at $120; but ok. Today, wife is Way over, no time to run it to the other place, 45 min away; so I steal it at lunch and run it to one of those, 5 minute, stay in your car, chain places. Da'Yum, $174, for basic synthetic, basic filter, and a $35 cabin air filter. Is it just me, or is that ridiculous. The $120 place; they atleast vacuum the car, and leave you a mint with a Bible verse on it; and I'm up there every 7500 miles with the work car. They are a but out od the way, and not that fast, but.....
Yes, too high for me. I take my sierra to the chevy dealer. 8 qts. Detox full synthetic for $125 plus they rotate tires, top off fluids, check brakes, exhaust and other things and send you a video of them doing it. Last time I bought a coupon for 3 oil changes for $250.

That is really high for around here. Local dealer charged $58 out the door for my F150 and $63 out the door for wife's Yukon; and we didn't have any coupons.

My dealerships are about a 30 minute drive away so that would turn a short job into at least 90 minutes with transit time and waiting at the dealership. I bought a set of 2 piece Race Ramps when I took delivery of my 2016 Corvette Z06 and I also use these for my Camaro and Cadillac CT5 V. Once the car is up on the ramp, the drive up section removes for full access.

My GMC 2500HD diesel has plenty of room underneath without ramps as does my Deere compact utility tractor and Kubota F series mower :) The diesel genset is easiest of all since it came from the factory with a drain valve and hose.

You unload it off the truck one piece at a time. Either use your front end loader or get some friends to help.

I watched Halfassed Customs (YouTuber) assemble several of his by himself with a telehandler. I know if I bought one it wouldn't take long to have it set up.

I've been using the dealer for that "maintenance history" since I bought my Accord new. They had been at ~$54 per change but recently is in the $80 range. Not convenient at 30 mins each way, but seemed reasonable before the price increase. I just had a lift installed in my new shop a week ago, so going forward I'm going to have to figure out the maintenance minder and change it myself.

edit: 2 post rotory brand 10k lift was $7500 installed by the dealer. Not as cheap as some in this thread, but should pay for itself.

I spoke with the vendor about doing just that, but he says it varies by trucking companies. Most won't give you the time to break down a crate in-truck to do that. It all depends on the local terminal and what trucks they have available at the time. The driver might have something to say about it too--He's on a schedule.

I won't let anyone change mine. I made some ramps. used 2x10's stacked on top of each other, each one 2.5" shorter then the other. 3 of em. raises the car up 4.5" which is enough to get under my vehicles. I only use pennzoil, mobile one or quaker state (FULL synthetic) depending on which is the cheapest at the time since prices on oil is always up & down. and I use a quality filter. with the better oil no need to change every 3000 miles. these are rated up to 15000 miles. but I still change mine at 4500 now

My mistake. I assumed it was off of your own truck. You don't have a friend with a truck and trailer? I know if transport was my only problem I'd find a way to make it happen.
