So, I finally have my kevlar belts and will hopefully get them in this weekend . I have cleaned the pulleys with a wire wheel on a drill, will get the pulleys parallel and lined up, anvils adjusted. While I was getting things apart this morning, I noticed this bolt that goes through the case in a threaded hole with lock nut. It comes close to the lip on the disk. There is no mention of it in the manual! Anyone have any ideas of what this does and where to adjust it to?
Thanks a lot (again).
Rob

An update from this weekend. We got everything adjusted as it should be, hopefully, and installed kevlar belts. We were able to chip about a yard of material and still have the belts on the machine!!!!! But, the tensioner is all the way over to the pulley. The chipper came with a set of belts that are 49" so, we have been buying that length belt. I can not find on the interweb any information as to how long the belts are supposed to be. So, a question for this chipper, should they be 48"?
Again, thank you!

I checked my owners manual and it didn't specify a belt length. It did say the belt deflection should be 1/8" with 15lb of pressure.

From what you are saying your belts are too long. I would look into using a smaller belt when these wear out.

I just purchased 4 48" belts. Hope I can get them on! It is amazing that there isn't anywhere on the web that I can find what length the belts are supposed to be.

I chipped for the last time this year and the photo below is what I was referring to in post #8. I try to avoid dead or very dry limbs, but it's not always possible. Any ideas as to what is causing the build up? Thanks.

Maybe that nut I pointed out in post 21 clears that out?

You might be on to something. My chipper doesn't have that part. When I called the Valby distributer a few years ago, he mentioned that the problem was resolved on later model chippers. That may have been the solution. Maybe I can retrofit my chipper. Approximately how far does the bolt go?

It comes out about 5/8" and comes out just past the lip on the disk.
