I currently own an arctic cat prowler and am selling it. Too many problems. I will be purchasing a Ranger Crew for family hauling and hunting but I am in need of a work horse around the farm.

I have read all the threads here and think I have narrowed it to a John Deere utility and a Kubota. This is for a workhorse on the farm. Any other suggestions or plus minus on thee two choices would be helpful. If you suggest a different option than the to listed let me know.

A few more tips on what you will be doing with the YTV would be helpful.

We have both the RTV Kubota nd the new new 825i Gator. They are both good machines but I prefer the Gator. The Gator treads a bit lighter and is quicker to get around, yes it has about double the HP. I like the gas for engine for winter use and EFI for winter starting. the Gator box does seem a bit larger than the RTV. I like the open bench seat on the RTV for a slide thru opening and closing gates etc. The Gator has the bench seat but the shifter is in the way for slide thrus and the occasional 3rd person has the shifter in the crotch. I like the RTV for engine braking with the hydro stat but the CVT in the Gator has it advantages too.

I have had a Kawasaki Teryx on the farm for over the last year and it has been very handy doing spot spraying, fence work etc.

Well being that it's for farm use I would go with the Kubota rtv. I have the gator 625 and it is a great trouble free machine but in my honest opinion you can never beet the reliability and ruggedness of a diesel. I know that if I could have afforded the rtv then that is what I would have bought. The Polaris ranger diesels aren't to bad either from what I have herd. The new gator was built to compete with the trail hobby utv market IMHO! Good luck and most of all, have fun with what ever you get!
