This is what I suspected would be the case. Heavy discount for cash or "free" Financing. Bobcat has been doing basically the same thing but with 84 months financing as I recall. In Bobcats case they are throwing in a "free" FEL on cash deals which is the way I went with mine. It all works out the same.

But if my cash is earning 6-10%+ and the financing is zero or less than 6%, it doesn’t make sense to spend the cash.

I tend to think along those lines at times but I'm naturally adverse to loans and like to sleep at night so I let those thoughts pass. Money pulled from the market even as late as early March this year to score a large cash discount on a tractor would be having ones cake and eating it too about right now...

In theory what you say is investment 101. But I don't know of a single 6% payback today without risk.
I paid cash for my used tractor (best deal) and I sold my old tractor for 1/2 that cost cash back without affecting my daily or end result finances.
I don't believe in telling other people how to spend their money, except the wife

I'm in the market for a small tractor as I have 5 acres of wooded property and love my side by side for logging and firewood but needing something to clear stumps, dirt work, move stuff around etc

To get the best finance options, you need to buy new... Which introduces larger losses from depreciation. That's a cost too.

My last SUV purchase was $9k... 6 years ago. KBB says it's worth about $5k now. I'd lose more than that on day one with a new unit.

I'll probably drive it another 5 years. $9k for 11 years of use isn't bad... And that is if I burn it in the field and don't sell it.

Buying new, costs a lot. And some buy new, because they get "free financing"... But depreciation isn't free

That’s very true. I personally don’t consider depreciation because I tend to buy new and use it until it’s used up. I typically drive my vehicles for 250-300K miles and don’t expect much residual value when I’m done with it.
