Two wires with female spade adapters inside the cab in the rear up close to the caution lights...what are they? I put a volt meter on them with the front lights on and the flashers on.....along with the key switch on...not voltage.

Sounds like the wires to the defrost panel on rear quarter window.

I would guess defrost also;should be wired to your overhead consul(blank spot).I installed rear work lights and the wiring was already run;ordered the factory switch(Messicks),wires were outside under the caution lights(wrapped in electrical tape).Plug and play operation.

I thought that is what these might be (the wiring for external rear light)....but they are inside the cab..so if I had the defrost that is what these might go to then? The outside lights you....what kind of adapter was there for you to use rear lights? Also, the switch you ordered from messicks...did you have to remove the roof or the just the switch panel etc? I would like to hook some up.

The plug for the factory switch is under the blank ;just pull it out and connect ;easy.I installed LED's in the front and moved the Halogens to the rear so that was plug and play.I did splice for the LED's,water-proof connectors for a boat(easy).
The LED's are great, a lot more light. Can't remember were I found them but they fit the factory bracket.
I may have got them from Superbrights.com.

Oh yes....cool....I didn't even notice that they were so easy to remove..Here are the adapters I fished out of there.....I did read a few different manuals today trying to figure some things out to decrease all my newbie questions...But that is handy it is all wired up already. I'll definitely be adding some LEDs when I figure it all out....on my Lil Bx I ran a whole new harness. When sitting in the tractor...over my left shoulder there are two sets of female spade adapters and over my right shoulder there is one set of spade adapters. Both are in the interior of the cab.

Does anyone know what these two connectors go to?

One would plug into the rear wiper switch if you had that and the other into the rear work light switch, also if you had that. Could also be for the rear defrost, which is the plug you left in place below those switches.

My l6060 those would be the rear wiper and rear defrost switches in the two pics. Where is the rear cab switch in the 40 series? If you have a manual check to see what it displays or maybe get in Messick’s parts diagrams and see the arrangement of them. The front and rear cab lights are on the side pillar to the right on mine but it appears in your picture your front cab lights are above.

The defrost wires come down from the top for the side and rear windows. They may stuffed into the cab headliner if there is no defrost option I would assume. On my l6060 there is a wire on the right side near the side window with a connector on it. I can’t recall what it is for.

Here is a pic without the defrost switch in the leftmost blank before my dealer installed it.

Switches all installed (sorry for the crummy picture I just did a screenshot of a video because it is too cold and muddy and dark to walk back outside)

The switch arrangement is different from your l40 but gives you an idea of where your defrost wires would be if they are poking out.

Old red,

Rear defrost is only for the rear glass. The rear side pop-out windows can also have defrost function but it is an optional item above the rear defogger option. The wire for these side windows is up high, in close proximity to these windows. There is another wire to the left side pop-out window near the bottom or coming out the pillar. I believe this has unswitched power, but not certain what it is for. I知 not by my tractor or I would go out and photograph the connectors for you to compare. (Pop-out window is also called rear quarter window)

The outside rear light wire leads are outside the cab and likely taped up in the bundle by the hazard lights.

While your at it, I found the LED conversion in the over head dome light to very economical upgrade with positive results. I think I posted pictures of the before and after on this forum if you any to search.

Adding pictures to your post would go a long way to confirm their function.

Thank you and others so much....Yes I will post up some photos this afternoon at lunch or after work of the wires. I would love to have a dome light that would actually allow me to see in my cab. I will search to see what you put in there. Stay tuned...

Old Red,

Check out the later posts here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/388386-led-light-replacement-cab-m7040-2.html

The pictures of the light output doesn't do it justice.

I used the same bulb/conversion kit, but sourced it from amazon. For reference: Amazon.com: Ozg-motors Dome LED 48 T1 BA15S 12V Bulb Light Panel Conversion Kit: Automotive

Hope this helps.

If you pull the roof off accessibility is far better you will see there is a relay missing for that circuit if I remember correctly.

PM me your email I can send you the workshop manual but it's quite large 335 MB and Skype might work better.

Below is the wiring diagram for a GL40-3 cab tractor. Hopefully this will help the OP and anyone else.

For reference this manual is from Feb 2015.

Thanks.....I found the harness in the rear for the rear work lights...as everyone said it was taped up alongside the flashing lights. I have ordered a rear switch from Messicks - part number T1065-75370.

The other sets of wires.....I have not looked at this diagram yet but I suspect wiper blades and then defrost. I will study the schematic in a bit. I also ordered the dome light with the 48 LEDs on a pad. Lots of good reviews there. I hate not being able to see. I was really pleased with the forward and reverse LEDs I installed on my Bx but it does not appear like they will fit the mount where the factor forward up lights are...I will figure something out up there as there are plenty of threads on that.

How about the internal driving lights on the grill? What did most of you switch to there? I watched the 40 minute video from P and K Short.....I was hoping there would be more of a plug and play type light that would not require as much effort in those....seeing the loader will be on basically 100% of the time the lights here are not near as important but the OC (I leave out the "D" because it is not a disorder) wants the light color to match.

edit:
If anyone wants to share the light pods you used for the front and rear and you don't mind sharing.....

I haven't seen the need to change the grill lights after installing the roof mounted LED's;plenty of light.

So I took apart the upper work lights last night and discovered an H3 bulb in there. What a weird little bulb. They make some high powered LED H3 replacements with the little fan motors on the back of them, however they ain't gonna fit inside that work light housing. I found another LED drop in that I think will fit but not as powerful. Gonna give it a shot and see how it works. My suspicion is that it will improve but still probably not enough.

In the meantime, just out of curiosity, I ordered a pair of those LEDs with the fan motors in them to drop in the Bx forward lights....there is no sense in it as the stupid things will just blind me reflecting off the bucket of the front end loader, but I just wanted to see them. They will most likely end up on the grasshopper.

I'm going to add rear work lights to my L5740 because I have a big job coming up and I may be working at night.

I have a few questions.

1. I found this connector behind the existing switched in the cab. There may be another, but I didn't see it. Is this the connector for the rear work lights?
Kubota Switch plug.JPG

2. The next pic is from inside the cab and shows wires hanging out on the right rear corner of the cab. Are any of these wires for the rear work lights? Old Red said he found his work light wires taped to the flasher light wires. I have not looked there.

3. I found the switch at Messicks, thanks Old Red, but it doesn't show the area that plugs in, so I can't tell if the switch will plug into the plug I show in the above pic.

On my L4240 HSTC;the very left blank is the rear light connector;the wire for the rear lights connector is out-side taped to the caution light wire.I am guessing the inside connectors are for a rear wiper or window heater. There may be another connector located in the switch panel(not sure).
If you use after market LED's you will have to splice or find the correct connector to the factory harness.I would recommend LED's for sure.Check my link to SuperBrights in this thread.
Mine are 18watt and lots of light. You want flood not spot LED's.

Just so happens I just worked this project yesterday and this morning a little. My switch came in from Messicks yesterday.

The rear work lights wiring harness that you want to tap into so that you can install your rear lights....it is taped up in black electrical tape along with the rear lollipop flashing lights wire. Cut into that tape where it gets "fat" and that is your connector for your rear work lights. Secondly.....behind the switches you have there.....when you get your light switch from messicks....there is only one adapter inside there that will fit your new switch. There were 3 or 4 total wire plugs in there...You will find the correct one....and it is the only one that will fit your new switch.

Also, when you call messicks to order your switch...make sure you call them and ask for USPS shipping to save a little money on shipping costs....online shipping choices are expensive.

So I have decided to remove the "lollipop" lights and use that spot for my rear work lights. My buddy is a state trooper and he said I am still legal in KY on the road with my rear flashers that are on the fenders. Not that I drive on the road much.....and this spot where the flashing lights are is so dang easy to use. I am turning my LED rear work lights under as shown in the picture to minimize running into limbs.

When you click on these they will turn correctly.
