This is funny A homeowner is not governed by OSHA. Felony tower removal What are you in for. I took down a tower. Ooohhhh your bad

Pop the bolts with a 3 lb hammer and a chisle. jack apart if stuck and hand it down. You can use the tractor if you want to, it will lower the tower. but you will stress it. The tower is designed to be a verticle structure. Putting the tower into a horizontal stress may casue kinkage. Yes Kinkage is a word.

Sorry no "kinkage" my 40 foot tower has been lowered and raised countless times by the cable at the 20 foot point, with a CDE HAM III rotator and CushCraft Ma5B beam and 10 foot mast and Hustler G-144 on top. the fulcrum pulley is at a 15 foot, the winch is 100 to 1 worm gear reduction. I have seen 60 foot raised without "kinkage". Rohn 25 is pretty tough, but if you drop it it will "spring" and/or crack the welds. The more I think about this, although the ginpole/ belt and rope is the proper way to erect or disassemble the tower, it is only about 30 foot, so the method of cutting the bottom and drill and make the temporary hinges. would sure work, if you could get a rope over something and tied to a vehicle or you could play it a little more dangerous and use your tractor and forks to slide it back down. it is only 3 sections. you could probably get 3 guys and do it. with the hinges, as long as it holds. I raise and lower mine with a 1/2 inch drill, on the winch input.

I already said how it need to be done, and kOua added some more helpful info.

Ya'all don't need to make this into a hard job.

I have taken down a 36 foot windmill which is a whole lot heavier than an antenna tower. The one thing you need is a tree to tie off about 18 feet in the air. Use a snatch block and a winch, powered by my Jeep Wrangler, to let the tower down slowly. Cut 2 legs on the tower and let it bend the other two. Below is a link to a U-tube video of the windmill that I have in my back yard and have raised and lowered it several times. Good luck and be SAFE!

I posted the 'hinge technique' because when you let the tower legs bend............it usually ruins the entire bottom section.

Just rent a crane and be done with it! :)

3 men can safely lower that tower with nothing more than a rope. Just hook it the way James KOUA said, and use the hinge design I stated.
