Trick Start B2920

My B2920 has developed a chronic starting issue. Most of the time when I try to start it nothing happens. I have to tap the forward, reverse, or break pedal until I hear a click and then it will fire.
Every once and awhile I can't find the sweet spot and it gets difficult to get it started. I just had it in to my dealer for the 200 hour service and the mechanic said it should improve with more use. I think it is gradually getting worse.
It is really starting to get annoying. Anyone else having this problem? I think I should take it back to the dealer band tell them I expect it to start when I turn the key. What do you folks think?

This type of stuff never gets better on it's own! It may get easier to find the exact culprit if and when it finally does go bad.

Get it back to the dealer and let them know!!!! Tell them you want it on a work order to be documented.

The mechanic expects it to improve with more use and you put 200 hrs on the tractor? What kind of a response is that? Most likely they didn't care to take the time and trace problem. You should e-mail Kubota and describe problem/dealer response and then again talk to your dealer before you are out of warranty.

It is getting worse, and it will continue to get worse, to the point that when you stop to get off the tractor it will kill the engine because it thinks the HST pedal is not in neutral. At first, I thought that the HST damper was not working properly and was preventing the complete return to neutral. I removed it to troubleshoot, and I soon found out that it is not the problem. I did eventually find the problem, and I "trained" my dealer on a solution...there is a pin that is attached to the HST linkage that pushes a switch when the HST pedal is in 'neutral'. This pin runs through a little cylinder that keeps it in position to hit the switch. After some time, the pin starts to bind up slightly in the cylinder. If you look under the tractor, on the right side where the HST linkage is you should see it.

I added some grease to this point with a grease gun and that solved the problem. I won't say that it addressed the problem, but it solved it. There really should be some kind of nylon bushing or something of the sort at this point to prevent the metal-on-metal contact.

FYI - my tractor started having this issue right after the 200 hour mark.

70 hrs. on my 2620 and no starting issues what so ever, get her back to the dealer especially if your still under warrenty!

My 2620 started doing this at around 130 hours, right after I did a bunch of tilling and making a lot of dust. It ended up fixing itself before I had a chance to do anything with it (after mowing the yard - about 3 hours on the tach).
