Good morning from the Bluegrass state, I'm about 1 a month or two from purchasing my RK. Still torn between 55 or 37. One of the factors is trailering, I need the length of the 37 and the 55, from front to back including loader, as it would sit on a trailer. Not planning on a trailer purchase at this time, as I have a 16 footer. Help me out guys.

Thanks

I would suggest NOT buying a tractor to fit your trailer,..... but, if necessary, buying a new trailer to fit your new tractor.
Buy the MOST tractor for your potential needs.
Then .....if your trailer is not big enough, sell your trailer, and buy a bigger trailer.
Tractors are a much bigger investment than trailers.
You NEED to get the tractor you REALLY NEED/WANT!

Thanks, but still need dimensions. I really don't need 55, I just like having additional capability, same reason I have a Farm Boss Chainsaw when a smaller one would do.

If you go to the RK tractors web site, the dimensions are listed there.

Trailers are like pole barns - never quite big enough.

All, if I wanted comedy I'd look for comedy. I was asking a simple question merely in the interest of timesaving, stopping at RK with a tape measure is not in my plan for the near term. I had hoped an owner would come up on the net with actual facts. Oh well, have a great Friday.

You got the help you wanted your just too lazy to go look for it. Scroll down on each page, it gives you every dimension and weight you could want. You got time to tell people something here but not to find what you want? You're welcome.

you were looking for timesaving...by expecting some other owner to take time out of his / her day and go personally measure their tractor and get back on here and report it to you....when you couldn't even take the time to review the RK web site spec sheets. smh.

And to be fair...lots of considerations to be taken into account in addition to just the length with a FEL bucket attached. Such as total weight, (tires loaded? unloaded?), hauling with other attachments such as a finish mower, is your trailer single or double axel...because you'll need to be able to position the tractor for the appropriate tongue weight and balance...even if you could squeeze it onto an existing trailer bed.

There are lots of very experienced and smart people here that can help you make a wise investment and an informed opinion. If you respect them and their time, its usually an extremely helpful bunch.

If you intend to have the loader bucket rest on the trailer while hauling it you will need a trailer between 18'-24' ... if you don't mind having the loader bucket riding above your truck bed, the 16' one you have will work just fine - as long as it has dual axles for the weight of the tractor.

With his expressed attitude,...... It would seem that the OP needs to seek his own conclusion.

Thanks I appreciate it. It is a dual axle utility trailer, unknown weight rating on the axles. I intend to "practice" with it locally before taking the trailered load on our hilly 2 lane roads to my farm.

Unless that is a home built trailer there should be a small plate attached some where that shows the gross weight that the trailer can handle including the weight of the trailer. I believe that most axles are rated for 3500lbs but don't hold me to that. If that's what you have then the total weight would be 7,000lbs combined. Does the trailer have individual ramps or the single expanded metal ramp like you see on trailers hauling lawn mowers and so forth. Not sure how much weight the expanded metal ramp would hold.

I have a mahindra 2538 which is the same as a rk 37 i hual it on an 18 ft carhauler to my farm that is 149 miles one way. The first time i had a 6 ft brush hog on back and it stuck out a ways but was no prpblem. the tires are also loaded.

Your car hauler likely has two 3500 lb. axles.
Probably has an empty weight of 1800 lbs.
Does your (FEL?) tractor, with loaded tires, and brush hog, weigh less than 5200 lbs.(7000 GVW) ?
Seems like the total load might be heavier.
For safe operation, can you keep 10% of the total loaded trailer weight on your hitch ball, with the brush hog hanging over?
That seems iffy too.....

This may help ...

Although to know what your axle rating is you should check the tag on the axle ... a "rule of thumb" is:

5 lugs = 3,500 lb
6 lugs = 5,200 lb
8 lugs = 7,000 lb
10 lugs = 10,000 lb

Your axles could be different - but, this is a good starting point.

Thanks much, I was thinking 3500 lb axles as well. It is a expanded metal ramp, but I'm reinforcing it. Thanks again.

I like the "rule of thumb answer" the trailer is a Craigs List special, but pretty solid. Its a 5 lug, so 3500 would make sense. Its a 5 lug Chevy, which was difficult to find when I had to replace a cracked hub, different subject though. Thanks Much.
