I just took delivery of a new 3320 with fel and rear mower. I traded in my 670 that was much smaller and was a MMM. Now I need a new trailer. The question is what size would you reccomend and is there anything I should be aware of or look for?

I have a 2520 with the FEL and brushog on an 18' car trailer/dovetail. The rear wheel hangs off a few inches.

I opted for a car trailer because the ramps would slide in and be out of site. If I had to do it all over again, I think I would have opted for the equipment trailer with the fold down ramps. My reasoning? I have unloaded a couple of times and have lifted the rear end of my truck off the ground, and when on a grade, it was a ride that I don't want to do again. Should I have my tires blocked? Sure! So to compensate for the lifting of the truck I usually place a 6x6 block on each side of the trailer in the rear to keep it from dropping down and raising the back of the truck.

So actual suggestion:
Probably at least 20' deck over equipment (fold down ramps with support) trailer (10k weight limit minimum, yea it may be a slight bit over kill for your tractor, but remember the weight limits listed usually include the weight of the tractor. My 10k trailer weighs about 1900#, so I really only have about 8100# capacity left. I haul trucks and other equipment from time to time too. Plus I like just a little extra poundage, I guess I like a little overkill.) with stake pockets/rub rail, and tie downs about every 4 feet all the way around. I would also opt for a winch mount for possible future needs. I would also install a toolbox on the front of the trailer so you don't have to look for your tie downs and tire blocking. I also would opt for the wooden deck. I have had tractors bounce just enough on a metal deck to scoot a bit when one set of straps were tighter than the others, but that is my preference.

Tilt becks are nice, hydraulic ones are expensive and the gravity ones can fight you at times.

Congradulations on the new rig!
I have a 3520 w/300CX and loaded R4s. I have a 7,000 lb rated, 16 ft (flat) trailer that I bought when I had a 4200 w/o fel.
This trailer works ok with current rig, but if I were buying today I would go for at least 18 ft of flat deck and at least a 10,000 lb rating, with brakes on all four wheels.

I only haul my tractor on an occasional basis. I found a deal on a slightly used PJ brand 16' car trailer with a 2 foot dovetail (included in length). The GVW is 7000 lbs and it has brakes on both axels. It was licensed for 10,0000 lbs.

This trailer works for me.....but a longer trailer would be better. Longer is much better if your going to haul implements attached to the tractor at the same time.

The last time I hauled mine I had the loader and box blade on. Worked out fine...but with a mower or longer implement your going to be sticking out the back. The weight is distributed very well for my needs....even on this short trailer....and I have the same tractor as you do.

An 18' or 20' trailer would be far better IMO.

OH.....and block the rear of the trailer so you dont make a rodeo - when loading and unloading. (I use jack stands.)

How much does this outfit weigh with FEL, 60 mower, and loaded R1's? Thanks for the responses.

Sorry, I don't know the weights of your rig.
My tractor w/fel, and loaded "big" R4s runs close to 5400 lbs. My trailer is right at 1500 lbs, plus a mounted 6' tool box that is usually full of tools, chains, binders, and other "stuff", so even without a piece of equipment attached: I am pushing the limit of my 7,000 lb axle rating.

The owners manual for the equipment should have the weights, for the tractor (JD site says 2900#, I don't buy it though), I would add another 200# at least. Tires filled is roughly 8 to 10 lbs per gallon (250# to 300#?), depending on what is used. Mower deck, between 250 to 300#. Rear mower, 5' probably about 600 to 700#, And for the FEL, 1000#. All complete guestimates for the most part.

Thanks, Im pretty sure the 3520 and the 3320 is about the same weight so this gets me close.

The 3320 and all the other 3000 series are the same weight. If you end up with a bh you'll br almost 6400lbs. My 3320 with filled rears and hoe scales at 6600. I think Deere under estimates the weight or does count fluids or some think. I wouldn't consider less than a 10k trailer and I use a 12k unit. As for length go as long as you can.

I have a 22' trailer. I just sold my bushhog, but it could haul tractor w/loader and cutter, and my x744 mower on it with the tail wheel hanging off. I wonder if I could haul tractor/loader and tiller on a 14' dump trailer. Probably would only fit with bucket in the air. JC
