I suspect it's a combination of hitting a small bump at the right harmonic frequency for your tractor setup. That harmonic is dependent on the total combination of wt, speed, tire pressure, tire condition, flexibility of the tractor, wheel base length, total length of tractor, and distribution of weight. And that doesn't even touch on cyclical wave condition of the driving surface.

That would be an excellent study for a mechanical engineering grad.

If you think it's bad on smooth ground...try bouncing along down a pot holed uneven dirt road with your implement on the back...
