Bfreaky, for your reference: Hitachi puts a lot of info in their brochures, with hydraulic pressure, cylinder bore and stroke, bucket force and stick length. They give a sense of ratio for your design.

I am referencing the Hitachi 3.3 tonne model to build behind my 3011. The 3011 weighs less than 3.3 ton but the center of gravity is further away from the tipping point than with an excavator, so you get more stability in relation to the vehicle weight...

Thanks. I've already bought all the cylinders. Size is quite similar; lift, dipper, and 2nd dipper will have 100/50 - stroke 800, bucket cylinder will be 80/50 - stroke 800, swing also 100/50 - stroke 200 mm, and stabilizers 60/40 - 700 mm.

Boom no 1. assembly. Gotta love those dowels, always perfectly aligned parts and so easy to make..

Worst of all was the fact that I had to stop everything, just had to lie in bed with my leg in the air...I'm totally NOT used to that...the day gets alot longer...

Hopefully you were able to tie a computer monitor to the ceiling and do some CAD! Glad you're back at it, can't wait to see more progress. I really like the dowels for alignment.

Do they have day time "drama" series on TV there? We call them "soap operas" because they advertised soaps to the stay at home mothers back in the day.

Easy on the break dancing.

I know the feeling all too well. I’m about 3 days into 6 weeks. I can’t walk for 6 weeks. I’m not technically banned from doing anything else but I’m too sore now to do anything besides sit on the couch.

Can you use crutches?

   / Tractor backhoe - homemade #1,138
Yes, but that’s about the equivalent of driving with 3 wheels. I have a desk chair for rolling around the house but there’s stairs to get outside and the shower is upstairs. I can go upstairs pretty decent on crutches but going down I have to sit down and slide down them. And I’m too sore to do much now. I’m hoping to be able to at least put a little time on my equipment in a week or so.

It looks like you put a thin walled tube in the stick nose, then later put a thick walled bush in, to accept the pin and wear bushings ?

Tube in the nose is 110 x 8 mm. Yes, that's the way I'm gonna do it.
