Towing a BX24

My father used to tow my B2410 with loaded tires and backhoe all the time with a 16' dual axle trailer (brakes on both) using a Ford Ranger 4.0 liter. He towed it 60 plus miles each way, 55 miles of which was interstate.

Your Dakota should be fine towing that weight. The BX w/BH and loader weighs in at around 2700. Add trailer weight of around 1500, youre around 4200. Thats not bad for a Dakota. As was mentioned, just use the right trailer for the task (ie. tandem with electric brakes).
I intend on towing my BX23 the same way with my Jeep Cherokee. The tow capacity of my Cherokee is 3500 without load leveling and 5000 with load leveling. I would think you Dakota should have a higher tow rating than my Cherokee does, its heavier, its longer and its wider.

The feedback here is very encouraging. I love my Dakota and it has served me great towing lighter garden tractors. It sounds as though I'll be able to get by with just buying a better trailer (my 10 foot single axle won't do) as opposed to a trailer AND a new truck! Thanks again everyone.
