I ran across a 46" square piece of 1" thick aluminum that I bolted to the top of two of the HF Titan work benches. Thought that it would be a decent surface for tacking up fab projects. I plan on drilling and tapping holes in the aluminum for fixtures and bench top tools. Will add some shelves between the two cabinets and fixing a 4x4 electrical box extension cord to the side somewhere. The vise is held down with 4-3/8" bolts threaded into the plate.
That is a cool surface. Nice find and repurpose!

I sell a few cutting boards and take a few other commissioned builds but the wood turning and woodworking as a whole is only a hobby.

nicely done. Let us know over time how durable the surface is. What do you have to do to maintain that finish?
That is one big chunk of aluminum. Very impressive. Is there a grade number for that aluminum, an alloy of some kind or
pure aluminum? Aluminum can be soft or extremely hard. Guessing you have the latter.

No my woodlot is in the city limits and they don’t take kindly to burning debris in an open fire. When I started the project a year ago I intended on converting the wood splitter to electric and moving it inside but I doubt I’ll do that now, so it’ll just be used to burn splinters and warm up by.

It’s 3/8 thick but I hope not.

I was cutting some strips for a table top and hit 2 different bullets in the woods. Luckily the soft lead didn’t hurt the blade/knifes. And this was the trial run of my new to me Oneida cyclone dust collector. Here’s how the filter looked after sucking three 30 gallon barrels of chips. I’ll be interested to see what happens with it and the drum sander but so far I’m impressed. IMG_1301.JPGIMG_1302.JPG
