To Modify or Adapt?

So I just got a really good deal on a nice, clean, very well made, used 70" root grapple. The problem is it's a skid-steer quick attach grapple, and my loader is a euro/global/Alo quick attach. I have already determined that this used grapple plus a euro/global to skid-steer adapter is about ~$1000 cheaper than any comparable new grapple, but I am a cheap bastard... I have "functional" welding skills and equipment --the stuff I make is rarely pretty, but it rarely breaks-- I think I can grind off the skid-steer top and bottom tabs and weld on a set of euro/global mounts pretty easily. This would save me ~$200 vs buying a cheap adapter. But is it worth it? If I buy the adapter I can user other skid-steer attachments if I need, even possibly rented ones... but I already have a bucket and bale grabber, and with the grapple the only other thing I would see any use in owning is a set of forks, and I already have clamp-on forks... what say you folks? Modify the grapple, or buy the adapter?

I had to look up euro/global adapters to see what they were. It looks fairly simple to make your own adapter. If I'm looking at this correctly it looks like you could even weld some rectangular tube to the SSQA then weld the euro adapter to that if cutting off the skid steer top and bottom would be difficult. If you have a torch those would be easily removed. Go for it.

yeah, I thought about building my own adapter, but the materials to do so would cost only about $50 less than the Titan Attachments el-cheapo adapter... The cheapest SS lock boxes I can find are about $120, and most all of the Euro/Global bracket sets are about $100, plus ~$30 for square tube... aaaaand we're almost at the Titan adapter. I don't mind doing the welding if it saves me $200, but for a $50 savings, an off-the-shelf el-cheapo is probably going to be better welded and possibly better painted than I would make myself. I'm leaning toward modify the grapple at the moment.

Buy the Titan adapter. That’s what I have. Easy and came delivered to my door ready to go.

I’m cheap and love to build my own stuff but I’d vote to just buy the adapter. Then you will always have the option to use other SSQA implements or global.
