MF1643 Power Shuttle
I don't have any official paperwork from the dealer, barely an invoice showing sale with no serial # etc. That I can get off the tractor. Are there titles or any other "official" paperwork that I should have received. All I have is the owners manual. Goodby hydrostatic and hello Power Shuttle and 5 more HP. Big differnece.

To my knowledge, no state titles tractors. Proof of ownership is by bill of sale, etc.

This topic comes up every once in awhile. So far no one has found a state that issues titles for tractors. The Bill of Sale is it, as Steve said, but I certainly would have expected that Bill of Sale to adequately describe the tractor, including model number and serial number.

Thanks Steve!

Seems to me, the lack of documentation only makes it easier to steal and resell tractors. Yes?

It also clouds the issue of model year, in my opinion.

Any piece of equipment has a certificate of origin from the manufacturer. You must ask for it from your dealer. It is the document the state would ask for to be able to issue you a title.

I always ask for it once the equipment is paid off.

I registered mine with tractor plates and insurance for snow removal purposes.

Our state law says that you can drive a tractor on the road up to 150 miles from the farm.

There's a bit of a 'slippery slope' on this issue. If a State issues (or has a requirement for) a title then they'll be requiring a fee for that... which usually leads to an 'annual fee'... which means that their hands are in your pocket yet again and for as long as you have the tractor.

I know that my dealership has their own registry of who bought the tractor for warranty issues and JD sent me letters identifying my rig + major implements with serial numbers. If you later sell anything you would need to inform the dealership for transfer of warranty.
