Chains Tire Chains

Well my B7800 is going into the dealer early for it's 50 hour checkup due to my ongoing hydraulic leak. While at the dealer I was thinking about getting it fitted with chains for the winter. Any thoughts on the value of chains? Will they make a significant difference in pushing snow around. Are they something I should consider putting on if I'm out working in the woods in nonsnow season?

I have 2-link chains on the rear of my L3710. I doubt that I would need them if it weren't for the major hill on our driveway. They do help in the spring in the mud when using the tractor in the horse lot.

I'm not sure how much extra the dealer would charge to fit the tractor with chains but it wasn't that difficult from tirechains.com. I had to remove a few links to get them to fit right.

Thanks for the reply. We also have a steep hill on our driveway which we have pulled many a friend and family member up.
I'm new to the tractor world, and have never been considered very mechanical. Since the tractor is at the dealer's I figured let them fit them and hopefully it's done right. A lot of where I go is muddy so I hope they will help me through that also.

Do you chain up all four or just the back? I have a new B7800 with a snowthrower and have not used it in the snow yet. I found chains for the rear at tirechains.com but not for the front.

Actually I bought chains for front and rear. The front chains are still in the boxes. I get such good traction with rear 2-link chains and loaded tires that I haven't found a need for the fronts.
