Tire Chains

I too am looking to put chains on my low clearance Mahindra. Any idea how much side clearance is required for the MPCs? The local guy told me 2.5 to 3 inches. I'm wondering if he's being conservative.

I am running these chains with 2.5" clearance. It's close. About 1/4" left for clearance. These chains have to be tight and tucked. I safety wire everything that can flop around and catch a fender. These are heavy duty and aggressive chains:

One more thing I forgot. These pics are a couple of years old and every time I post these pics my good friends at TBN tell me turn the hooks around on the chain tensioners so they don't damage my tires. They're turned around now guys. And thanks for the good advice.

Those are nice looking chains. Based on your clearances I should be fine now that I've found some spacers.

I have a 4035 with R-4s. Sold my old chains because I have vey little clearence to the fenders. If I think I need something I'm going to order those carbide studs that you screw in.
Dan.

I was hoping to put chains on my 4035 but I guess I should rethink that idea.

I was looking at my 3535 and it looks like the fenders have additional holes by which you could actually raise the fenders. Not sure if you could do that with the 4035. Add some wheel spacers and you'd be in business.

I will look at mine and see if that is an option. Thank you for the pictures.

I use chain tensioners because the clearance is marginal.

Here's an image of what I mean.

I'll have to look. This would be a good option.
I already got heavy 4' wide piece of rubber belt that came from a wood chip plant. I cut it into two 2' strips to use on my garage floor in case I go with the carbide studs.

I have the MPC chains. They work great on both concrete (no chipping) and gravel.

three questions:

1. Do they make the MPCs small enough to fit the front tires?

2. Do they really not chip pavement or concrete?

3. what sites have guys had luck ordering from?
