1538 HST Mahindra
My dad has a Mahindra 1538 HST that has a very low throttle. It will not go up when he hits the gas. Yes it is a diesel. He has changed both the main and secondary fuel filters. He has also bled the air from the system and removed any water that was there. I have been scouring the internet for a schematic of the electrical, engine and throttle for diagrams of anykind. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. He wants the throttle working for winter to plow the snow. The dealer wants an arm and a leg to fix it and we have to take it there which is about a 2 1/2 hour ride one way. Which won't happen since the truck is broken too. So any help is great. Thanks.

Have you checked the accelerator cable? Have someone operate the accelerator lever while looking at the LH side of the engine towards the rear. Should see the cable moving a potentiometer. Edited to attach pdf of accelerator cable.

I will definintley have him do that. I always help him with the tractor since his vision has gotten so bad. Thank you!

Some tractors do not have electric control over throttle, some are purely mechanical.... Follow throttle cable form dash lever to where it connects on engine... It may be purely the adjustment is to loose to gain max throttle....

Check the air filter and passages for blockage like a mouse nest.

That's why it's always good to look over parts diagrams at least before trying to help someone.

I've tried to find a parts diagram. I haven't had any luck finding one. If you have a copy of it I would love to look at it.

Unfortunatly the issue is not with the potentiometer. It seems as though there is air in the fuel system. The tractor revved up alot when we were working on it the other day then died. If starter fluid is used to initially start the tractor it would run for ever until you shut it off. When you tried to start it again without starter fluid it wouldn't start a couple hours after it was running. Now it tries to start with or without starter fluid but the engine never turns over. It's like the motor doesn't get enough power to turn over to run properly. I tried the diagram that is listed above but it wouldn't allow me to see it. It said I had to delete my cookies, which i did, but still did not work or allow me to view it. Any additional insight or ideas will still be helpful. Thanks everyone!

Sounds like your battery is weak and can not spin the starter/engine fast enough.

Do you have any other tractor/vehicle that you could use quickly with jumper cables to confirm a weak battery?
