Nothing YET.
After checking out most promotions on new SCUTs the JD 1023e seems to be the cheapest (really surprised me). I want to take advantage of the 0% for XX months and all manufactures offered an "either or" type promo, except JD. 0% for 60 months PLUS $1250 off. I was quoted $13,500 from numerous dealers which included the D120 loader and 54" MMM.

I've got 5 acres, 3.5 are wooded and will stay that way. About an acre of grass to mow and a 500' gravel driveway. This tractor will see 60% mowing, 15% grading and the rest moving dirt, mulch and other projects (small garden type projects).

1023e going to do what I want? I love the price...

I would closely compare the 1023E to the 1025R look at feature differences and best price to decide which is best for you.

They are a very nice little machine. Did you actually go to the dealers or use the online quote system....the numbers are going to be very different.

The extras (mainly the position control), while nice, don't warrant the increase in price, for me.

One dealer (100 miles away) quoted it on the phone after a long conversation and the other (right down the road) wrote it up on a sales paper for me.

That sounds like a fair price,we were just at the dealers yesterday and the "tag" price on the 1023E was $15,995.00(mow deck extra,at least it wasn't on the machine) with loader/bucket.We were just buying service parts no buying tho.We had looked at Kubota BX2370 a couple months ago and found similar pricing.

It's been a while since I looked at these models (at the time it was 1023E and 1026R). I do remember driving both, and realized that the main point of the 1023E model was price, which makes sense as it's the "E" economy series. It had a really lousy seat, among other things (worse than the seat on my 12-year-old Deere LT150 lawn tractor). I concluded that the upgrade to the 1026R (now 1025R) was well worth it just for the seat alone! If you plan to keep the tractor for a long time and/or spend a lot of time in the seat, you will appreciate the upgraded model for the seat and the floor mat, which cuts down on noise/vibration. You might also want cruise control on the 1025R if doing a lot of mowing.

The H120 loader has some compelling features over the D120, so take that into consideration as well. Even if you get the 1023E, the H120 loader might be worth the upgrade. It comes off a lot easier, and also has a quick-attach bucket. That has two benefits; first, you can easily pop the bucket off (without removing the loader) if you want better maneuverability for mowing, and second, it makes it trivial to change over to other front loader accessories (forks, etc).

Edit to add: if shopping based on price as your primary factor, you will probably short change yourself down the road. Spend extra now to buy a good tractor that doesn't have compromises, and you'll be happier in the long run.

What surprises me are the number of people who will drive past a JD dealership thinking it's too $$$ and won't even ask.
Where Deere and more $$$ is the case. It's at an auction sale of used equipment where the Deere retains more of it's value. It does make the other colour owners go and pout.

Was looking at BIL's new high tech custom tool bar hooked to his 275 hp Case IH. He had it painted green so it would bring more if he sells it. :)

I can admit I was one of them, but told myself I'd look at them all no matter my preconceived opinions. Glad I did, because JD is what I'll most likely be going with.

Those that have the 1023E see to be happy with it. I went with the 1026R, it has a bit more power, and a few more deluxe features. For what I do I wouldn't want any less power.

If you intend to maintain your driveway and have areas that need smoothing out I suggest you consider a small land plane similar to what I built pictured below. You don't have to have position control to use it. Cleans up a lot of messes made by a box blade on a small short wheel base tractor.

Came home with the 1023 last week and haven't stopped. I am having an absolute blast. Got it at $13,497 with 0 for 60. Although I wanted the 54d MMM they threw in the 60d for the same price since they didn't have any 54d's in stock. Very happy with the purchase and price.

I've removed and installed the MMM about three different times without a problem. Takes me 1-2 minutes from start to finish.
