I am wondering if anyone has changed the thermostat in a 3054. My tractor seems to runn a lot hotter at idle and under a load but cools down when running unloaded. I am going to replace radiator cap, flush system and so on Saturday. Dummy me forgot to order a t-stat /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. Called the closest dealer and he does not have one. I was wondering if there might be an automotive alternative t-stat? 180F or so?

I guess this is one you've had for a long time, or did you just purchase it recently? I see you list 500 hours. If the radiator fins were not blown out or washed out regularly, the first thing I would suspect is that they're clogged up pretty well.
If you have compressed air, blow out toward the front from the fan blade area on a relatively low PSI so as not to bend the tender fins. It sounds to me as though that's the problem, and I've seen a lot of posts where people admitted they hadn't been doing that regularly. I do my prescreen every time I use the tractor, and every other time I clean out the fins as well.
As for the thermostat. If you really need one, you can order one through my dealer, or any of the member dealers here. My dealer ships the world.
www.bigtractorsupply.com Dave Williams is the owner.

I just purchased this tractor a month ago to replace my Kubota L3010. It is most definitely stopped up. My plan was to clean and replace everything saturday. I got a new radiator cap. I forgot about the thermostat. My saturday time is very limited so I just thought it would not hurt to ask if anyone new of an alternate. I will keep this place in florida bookmarked. Next time i order parts though I think I will use Jon Depratt http://www.deprattequipment.com because he has offered me a lot of support for this forum. I think I should return the favor.

Boil that thermostat and see at what temp it opens up before you waste some money. But of course, do as I recommended first, and you may find nothing else is necessary.
I agree, buy from Jon DePratt. I recommend my dealer and others for the same reasons.

I didn't mean to sound condescending in any way. I just wanted to get the name out there. I hope Nashville gets a good Kioti dealer soon. I love this little tractor. I will boil that t-stat. Thanks

Did I indicate that you had been? If so, it's only in the typed word, not my intentions. I agreed with you that you should use DePratt, he's good man, and a good member here.
