It's not a Wicked Grapple, but it's interesting in it's own special way.

Anyone care to explain what's going on here? I've noticed the design on a few brands. :anyone:

It was probably working fine until Ted tested it:rolleyes:

Seriously though, the geometry of where the cylinders are make no sense. I'm sure island will be along shortly to explain why it's a superior grapple because its lighter:laughing:

While it might not be the best design I've seen several grapples that had the cylinders like that and worked fine. The lids are junk is the source of the problem.

We don't like flex, even on our 200 Pound Ultra Light Wicked 55!

Man, we should get something like that for Ted to test. Probably wouldn't last long, but I'm guessing it'd be quite entertaining!

No need. I already have. IMG_9315.JPGIMG_9317.JPG I also bent both cylinder mounts backwards and the lids were bent and the bottom edge was bent.

Maybe I am blind. Does that grapple have invisible cylinders? Or are they completely behind the backplate and on the outside upper tine?

Yep, the upper lid is wi-fi, or Bluetooth, or something?

The cylinders are back there. It was difficult to get everything crammed into the back of this 55 because the cylinders are on the outside of the QA mount. TIGHT, especially with the John Deere QA, which is wider than SSQA.
We got it done and kept it, horizontally, as compact as possible.

The lower cylinder mounts use the lower tube for strength, staying tucked in, which also creates a stronger rod pushing angle for max clamping force! The strong clamp is something Ted was very impressed by right off the bat after plucking some limbs right off a tree!

Land Pride extends the cylinders back further with tabs, which is weaker and also leaves no room for a JD mount as shown above on ours.

*Good News*

Ted has been spending more time at the factory cracking the whip, so our lead time is improving.
We were up to about 6 weeks, but most orders have been shipping within 4 weeks! :cool2:

The new EA manufacturing facility will be the next step for even greater efficiency, and we're steadily working towards the move for later this year!

It's hard for me to post without adding pics, so here's a naked Wicked 50!

Ho-lee-shiznit....

All I did was come into this thread to try to find out which grapple would best suit my 2538 for picking up bunches of small trees (saplings to 8" max diameter) and stacking them into a pile for burning later....man does my brain hurt now....

Clear as mud? There are a lot of variables and a lot of solutions. Probably the three most important variables are:

1. What you want to grab with the grapple. ie volume, weight, shape, etc.
2. Understand your tractor's limitations. ie lift capacity - grapple weight = load able to lift
3. Shape of grapple influences what you can grab/rake or whatever.

The good thing is you have lots of choices of grapples to fit your needs. EA alone has numerous styles.

x2 on Tom's post.

Here's the Wicked Twin stacking cedar's in the burn pile just this evening. For this use the quickest way to the stack was opening the lids and pushing along gathering up the trees and on to the stack. I could push about twice as many trees per trip instead of clamping on them and picking them up to carry them.

A Wicked Grapple provides lots of geometric options for running a sling to move all sorts of things around! A real back saver.
