That's not sporting! You've got to drop the grapple into the fire and then drag it back out with the hoses; well, that's how Eric[theOracle] does it! (poor guy, that's what happens when you document everything out on the Internet- never hear the last of it!)
The internet, curses!
FWIW, I'll have the biggest fires again in the county this winter.
Well that is pretty simple too. For low end AR15's I like DPMS. For high end I like Daniel Defense. Which ones do you like? Oh, and do you prefer direct impingement gas systems or operating rod?
I can't wait to see some of these wild, painted up Wicked Grapples!
How about a Halloween theme?

Hey Travis,
We're purchasing an MX5100 HST 4x4 in the near future, and are looking at attachments for it. It will be fully ballasted out, filled tires, good box blade, etc.
My question is, would you recommend the standard compact grapple, or the mega compact/utility duty grapple? (Probably looking in the 55" - 60", single lid variety)
Our ground is fairly rocky, and I'd probably end up pushing some trees out with it, if that makes any difference.
Thanks!
-Luke
Luke, I do not have a STRONG passionate recommendation for you, but I can 100% scream that you'll love the Wicked Grapple.
You've narrowed it down to a couple of good choices and I'd definitely lean toward the 60" single lid compact model.
Those started out great and have only improved over the years with the 37" opening and new protective grid.
The only difference between the 54" and 60" is the outer tine spacing.
Now, if you're like Rick and really want the wider opening and higher capacity, the 55" utility version is doable, but it will tax your capacity more.
Rick isn't stupid. He knew what he wanted and it fits his specific application beautifully.
If he didn't have a larger tractor in the stable for heavier lifting, he may have went lighter for the smaller tractor.
We've got both out in the field on MX series tractors. They both look Wicked and I have proof!
I can't thank all of the Wicked Grapple owners enough for providing me with the AWESOME photo arsenal.

These are 72" Dual Lid compact models, but you'll get the idea.

This is an L5460, but it also has the combination of a Wicked Grapple in front and an EA Landscape Rake on the back!

Well Matthew came through yesterday early morning so the grapple got put on storm duty. Just got a couple pictures as it was pretty busy and some of the widow makers required all my hands, feet and eyes to deal with.
Today, when I went to try to grab a couple stumps, for the first time I regretted having the grapple on instead of my bucket. It still worked out.

That is my post a few back. I bought the 56" single lid. I know plenty of people say the 50" is strong enough and it probably is but the 56" is still super light at 350lbs. It is actually lighter than my pallet forks. I don't know what your application is so I won't comment on width. I will tell you that the grapple is light enough where I was able to fit as many oak logs in it as I could shut the jaw around and the loader didn't even care.
