The Ice Storm Cometh!

I just measured 9 inches here and it's about done snowing. So much for the 16-22" they were teasing us with.

The storms seem to be following the coast this year. Points north and west where they depend on snow for skiing and sledding aren't getting it the way they would like to see it.
I ended up with about 12, I'll take the teasing if they over estimate LOL

When we redid the flooring I pulled out the 30yo baseboards. Filled any holes I found with the low expanding foam.

Installed the new laminate flooring right up to the edge of the drywall. This gave it the gap it needed around the edges. Let it settle in for a couple weeks.

I then dropped in new baseboards right tight to the floor.
Re-did my kitchen maybe 5 years ago, and when I pulled the counter away from the wall discovered a gap ~1½" between the floor and wall. No wonder my wife was complaining about drafts!!
Did the same as you...blocked it off, and filled the space with expand-o foam. There were also a bunch of holes in the floor, probably for gas, plumbing, etc. once upon a time. Glued dowels in to plug them too before we put the new floor down.

Gotta love some of the hack "tradesmen" who'd been there. Whoever put down the flooring for the PO, couldn't be bothered to move the stove, just cut the linoleum around it.

The old lady who originally owned our house had a son who was a "Not so handy" handy man

I used the home inspection as a punch list when we moved in. New windows, insulation in the attic. Opened up the kitchen to the dining room. New roof.

Spent 4hrs in the attic putting bare twisted together electrical connections into junction boxes and wiring Nutting the wires.

Found gaps under the door casings from the bottom to the side where mice had a causeway into the house.

Plugged and foam a filled holes where cable was run through the walls.

Filled holes in base cabinets where plumbing came through. Steel wool and foam a fill for those.

Sealed the exterior of the house with foam a fill as well. There were gaps between the siding opening directly into the walls.

Added the insulated inserts to outlet covers and light fixtures.

Added a mini split heat pump to the sun porch. And got rid of the old window unit that was a fire hazard.

Paid off when we sold the house. Electrician had to come and take care of a couple double taps in the breaker box.

Plumber had to replace the emergency pop off line for the water heater. It was under sized. Plumber also replaced the faucets for the washer as well as that drain insert cover.

$380 took care of the plumber and electrician.
