All I have to say is :D .

It was awesome. Way more than what I was wanting, but I may just have to go that route. It was way fast and was just a lot of fun. Looks well put together. I'd say i was easily going 45 miles an hour on their dirt tract. It handled the slopes and bumps wonderfully as well. I have no idea how I'd justify the expense other than it was just pure fun.

With tax and all other fees was around 13k. Is this about average or are they expensive at my local dealer?

$13K is way too high. I paid $10,500 for my 2006 XP with the power dump. To be fair the 2007 has a faster top speed, 50 mph and the speedometer, but $13K is still high. I am totally pleased with my Ranger. It is fun, it has a great ride and it still hauls a lot. Don't let the nay sayers make you doubt the Ranger's capabilities. I have hauled heaped up piles of dirt in mine with minimal squat and steerig was unaffected. If you like customizing, there are plenty of goodies for the Rangers.

That's a beauty Tractors4u..

They had it at 11k + all this crap like destination fee, documentation etc. Just like buying a car. With tax and all it added up to 13k. I thought it was a little high. I wasn't all that fond of the dealer either. Too much like a car dealer. Had me talk to the sales manager and wanted to run a credit ceck BLAh Blah Blah. I think I'll shop for another dealer anyway. Too bad as they are really close by, but they just rub me the wrong way. Had that feel like if you left without buying something I was wasting their precious time. I was the only one their anyway.

I was really impressed with the Ranger though. Very nice machine.

Check around, you can do better than $13K. Check out www.prcforum.com for a lot of good Ranger discussion and photos. It is an expensive website though. It is free to look, but the money that you will want to spend will put you in the poor house. So far I have added the wheels and tires, winch, brush guard, roof, and digital speedometer/tachometer.

I paid about $10,500 for my 2007 Ranger XP 700 last November. That was for a bare no options machine. I later added a ROPS cab with wipers, glass windshield, steel doors and CD/Radio for about $5,000. I probably paid too much for the cab but the whole outfit is really nice, hard working and a lot of fun!

Nice setup up Mars.

My dealer realy seems out of the ball park on pricing. A couple k more than what others are getting their's for. They would sell me a 500 model though for that price...LOL.

have you had any belt problems with your 700xp?? i have been hearing of the motor mounts breaking and the belts going to peices after a few hour.they say it's to much power for the mounting system. it's the same mounting system that holds the 500 engine down .

I haven't had any belt shredding problems on mine. I have heard of the problem over at PRC, but I don't think it has been under normal use. Some of these guys are doing some extreme riding and have modded these XPs. You go to messing with the engine and loosening and tightening and then things come loose on their own. I do keep an eye on mine though.

The latest 2007 700 XP has a Kevlar belt and it seems to have solved the shredding problem. Most of the belt shredding seems to have happened while riding on Sand Dunes out West. Part of the fun of Dune riding is flying around at full throttle all day and getting some air when you crest a dune. It tends to be pretty hard on the equipment.
Flying Ranger

I haven't had any problems with mine but it still has very low hours.

Hey Mars,
I just bought the same bare no-options Ranger XP that you did. Not much price change in 6 months either.

My question is about your cab. Are you happy with it? Did you install it yourself? Also, did you compare to the other Polaris cabs (Freedom or Lock and Ride cabs) or other brands such as Rangerware?

I was curious as I was starting to look at cabs and my dealer has little experience with them.

thanks

Hi Chris: I am happy with the ROPS cab and I still think that it is the best choice for my use. The fun factor is slightly reduced by the cab. Without the cab riding the Ranger was like a roller coaster, flying around with the wind in your face. However, the fun factor is greatly increased when I ride in the rain, snow or cold. The ROPS cab was a dealer install. They claimed that there was no charge to install it beyond the purchase price but I didn't shop around. I test drove a Ranger XP with a Freedom Cab. The Freedom Cab was very loud, lots of droning vibrations and noise from where the bed touched the cab. Any cab will be noisier than no cab. I guessed that the ROPS cab would be less noisy because it had space between the bed and cab. They didn't have one to test drive but when I got mine the noise level was acceptable, less than the Freedom Cab. The noise level is reduced even further when I remove the doors. I didn't consider the Lock-n-Ride or Rangerware cabs because they all mount on the outside of the Ranger factory roll cage and rub the bed like the freedom cab. If you just get a windshield (glass vibrates less than plastic) and a roof then you don't have to worry about the bed rubbing anything.

Some drawbacks to the ROPS cab are:
No hand holds.
No place to mount 4 or 5 point seat belt.
Cup holders get partially blocked by the front of the cab.
Good Luck, Marshall

Now that's a great gift. I bet you'll like it as much as she will too.

Well we went out and bought an XP this weekend. The only options we bought were power dump lift and a poly roof. Total price was $11,000 even. We saw prices from other dealers that were higher as much as $600+.

Oh, one of the dealers told me about the motor mount/belt thing; he said the early 07's had issues but Polaris addressed them right away and the new ones were coming off the line with the new motor mounts...

I wish I knew the serial number where the cahnge came from the factory...

If you happen to find out post it on PRC, I'd be interested to know that info myself. We're picking our up this Friday, moved it up a week.
