NORMALLY EVERY TIME I START MY TC 45 D IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND COMES IN AT APROX 1500 RPM. LATELY IT STILL STARTS RIGHT UP BUT RUNS AT ABOUT 800 RPM WITH A TAPPING SOUND AND AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS COMES UP TO 1500 RPM AND THE TAPPING GOES AWAY ... COULD IT BE AN INJECTOR OR TWO ARE NOT GETTING FUEL AT START UP ??? WHAT MIGHT CAUSE THIS SYMPTOM. THANKS ... JIM <><<

Could be air in the fuel delivery system. Make sure all fuel delivery fittings are tight( including the injector fittings), and bleeder screws are closed. If there is a check valve I the system, make sure it's working.

Hi Jerry ... i went thru the hydraulic supply path to the pump and found that there was a drip at the rubber tee in the lowest part of the supply line between the filter and the pump. when the engine was turned off and no suction applied to the supply line by the pump, the fluid in the line would drip out slowly over the time until the rig was used next. this meant, ( i think ), the line between the filter and the pump turned into a big slug of air .. once started, the pump cavitated until fluid got to it and even then, it would be sucking a small amount of air as well .. I doubled clamped the three ports on the rubber tee and the symptoms have disappeared. i hope i didn't ruin my pump , but all seems well ... thanks again for your thoughts on this ... cost me about three bucks and a few more gray hairs ... see ya ... jim
