TC40D New Holland
Hello All
I am new to the forum - Thanks for the help in advance.
I have a 2003 TC40D New Holland. The temp gauge reads mid way of the red area after a very short time of use. It maintains this reading during use but it never "pegs" the gauge or "overheats". By the reading on the gauge the temp remain constant
I believe the gauge is giving a false reading - either due to a false reading from the RTD/TC or the gauge is faulty

* I removed the thermostat and there appears to be good flow in the radiator
* I replaced the thermostat
Does anyone know what the resistance of the RTD/Thermo Couple is at a normal operating temp ?

Sounds like normal operation to me. Get a non-contact IR thermometer and monitor the temp of the thermostat housing and/or upper rad hose.

Edit. I misread your post. Sender or gauge is goofy. You're on the right track.

Not exactly the same, but my TC40D fuel gauge reads half full when tank is completely full. So as RickB says, it sounds like you have normal operation and the gauge is just wrong. Thinking New Holland got a bad batch of gauges across the board? Maybe not, but thought I would mention it.

I agree with doing a thermometer check.

Make sure you clean the air passages of the outside of the radiator very well. Also the grille and any radiator screen needs to be clean if you haven't cleaned them.
