Hello,
First post, hopefully in the correct location and posting for any others that may have similar situation:

I have a 2017 WorkMaster 60, approx 740 hours. About a week ago while running about 1800-2000 RPM PTO engaged, power rolled back and tractor shut down.

Code; 3157 (not communicating with CAN Buss), Water temp gauge FULL HOT (pegged), but not overheated, and STOP Light illuminated.

Changed out relays IGN 1 / IGN 2 (front left of tractor), code cleared, water temp gauge back to normal and stop light extinguished, but NO START (no click, nothing). BATT good 12.5v.

(**Note; cover is 'flipped' to see actual or correct relay position...mistake I made when originally changing out relays)

Next changed one relay (just left of fuel tank ). It was an open box, open package relay from a dealer (it was black in color, not gray and I am suspecting was faulty since there was no change). 2 relays there, but could only located one locally (have others coming via mail from CNH, Also, all fuses check and appear ok.

Changed the fuse for starter, as well as the STOP relay, (one or 2 others as well).

While I was waiting for the new ECM relays from CNH, I checked (and bypassed for confirmation) all of the safety switches, as well as the ignition switch, battery cabling, wiring, etc.

As soon as the 2 new relays were plugged in (gray relays in picture), starter was energized and machine started right up.

These are the MAIN RELAY and the STARTER CONTROL RELAY. Do you know which is which?

Both are CNH part 90341092 (replaces 84337380).
I believe 84337380 was V23134-J52-X429 (Tyco Maxi ISO Relay w/ 680 ohm resistor, Form A, 12V, 70 Amp, Plug-In, Dust cover). I cross reference this to Echlin ECH AR282, but I haven't personally tried the Echlin part - make sure it's Form A before purchase.

Hi,
So sorry, just saw this message.

No, I don't know which is which. I changed both out and the machine started (when I changed just one...nothing), so I assumed both failed (somehow).

I had gotten one of the TYCO types (black in color) from a local NH dealer and it made no difference, so I purchased 2 new ones (gray) from Messicks.

Let me know if you need additional information.

The supercedeing relay (shown in your photo above ) is 530-1A-12S1-PT-E-CNH (i.e. CNH 90341092), manufactured by O/E/N India Ltd apparently for CNH. Good to know!
A few thoughts about this 53 series per the O/E/N datasheet:
  • the contacts are rated for 40A (superceded relay was 70A)
  • it is sealed (previously unsealed, an interesting change)
  • the "CNH" suffix indicates "Specialties"
  • I am not familiar with O/E/N components or the company
40A from 70A would be a major de-rating - maybe that's a "specialty": Form A, 70A single contact. Possible "Specialties" include: High temperature winding wire & Special coil resistance & pick-up, maybe the single contact w/70A rating).

However, based partly on the previous Tyco relay: Form A, 12V, 70A, Plug-In, Sealed, w/ 680W resistor, could sub as a replacement - relays meeting these specs are available in the aftermarket.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date!

40A from 70A would be a major de-rating & "Specialties" - I'd like to know more about those. Without knowing the "Specialties" it's impossible to spec a direct aftermarket replacement. However, based partly on the previous Tyco relay: Form A, 12V, 70A, Plug-In, Sealed, w/ 680W resistor relay could sub as a replacement - relays meeting these specs are available in the aftermarket.

Thanks so much for the information / update!

Very good information to know. 👍
