The previous owner of my CASE compact track loader ran a oilfield pressure washing business. They used some sort of chemical in the mix that has left a tarnish on my machine. I've been able to get some areas shiny again with fine steel wool, but it's a very slow process and I'm not the patient type. I've also tried this product Grime Reaper Heavy Duty Degreaser, which works great at removing grease easily, but no help in the tarnish department.

Any suggestions?

Edited to add: I used TR3 with the steel wool.

I have had great success with Meguiar's car systems and Kit Car Polish a restoring both painted and plastic surfaces to almost new or as new. With Meguiar's, start with one of their cleaners, then move into the polish's. They have a numbered system that makes it easy to follow which to use after the other.

De-grease it as much as you can,
then spend a couple hundred and have someone come over and "buff' it new,
they'll know what stuff to use to bring it back, if it can be.

Do NOT use Steel Wool to "polish" the machine. You will be abrading the paint to a level it wont be able to recover from.

Use a heavy cutting compound, and a buffer to remove the tarnish. You can also pick up a "clay bar" system from the local auto parts store that will remove contaminates from the paint.

sounds a bit weird but ... try a bottle of RAINX ( water repellant for windshields ) spray a bit on a soft rag .... run rag over the tarnished spots and rub a bit ... most should come off, but the paint will be dull after ,,,, then use a good car wax to bring the shine back ...

if it doesn't work , ( staining too severe ) you still have some to apply to the glass on your vehicles ...

You can purchase rubbing compound from auto parts stores that will do the job.

They will be a fine pommuce abrasive suspended in wax and while hand rubbing capable, works best with a powered buffer.
That is what car lots use to make a sun baked faded car look like new.

Another use is to clean up yellowed headlight plastic lenses.
McGuires also sells a similar product, more costly and in smaller quantities.
