Hi,

Anyone have a quick attach on their LA402 Loader?

Tach-all web page click here...

Although my dealer said they were not available for the LA402 [even when I suggested his 2002 catalog might be out of date...] I emailed them and was told one is available. Apparently if you want to use your original bucket you remove the Kubota brackets and weld on new adapter brackets that Tach-all can sell you.

Anyone have this brand or another quick attach on their LA402?

I am pretty sure this is the next thing I want to get...might just send a note to the North Pole... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Grateful for any input/suggests/advice etc...

Here is the reply I got this morning...

Bill,

You are correct, we do offer a Tach-All for the Kubota LA402. The model number is QA-KU1. We do caution you not to overload this loader when equipping it with the quick attach. The Tach-All itself weighs 76 pounds, plus any attachments that you would add to it would have to be included in the 885 pound lift capacity of the loader.

Have your dealer call us with any questions that he may have.

Best regards,

Sorry Henro, I don't have one . . . but I want one! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Did you happen to get a price on the unit and replacement brackets?

The way I read the ad, it allows one to use any and all skid-steer quick attach stuff. Is that right?

Fishman,

I did not price it yet. I understand that once the coversion is made, the skid steer attachments can be used without problem...

My clamp on bucket forks are the driving force in my desire to have something different. With the clamp on forks, I cannot see what I am doing unless I stand up and look over the bucket...not something I like to do...

Might call my dealer tomorrow and get the cost...

Man, do I hate sticker shock!!!!

Henro,

If all you are wanting is forks for your bucket check out CTI's website. We sell these and they work great. Basically you weld 3 - 4 hooks across the top of your bucket. The forks are designed so that they can stand by them selves and they are connected by a metal rod. You drive up to the forks and curl your bucket and bingo you have pallet forks on your bucket! You don't even have to get off the seat. See the attachment for a picture of one. They make them for smaller machines as well. Here is their web site CTI

Here's my advice: Don't buy the Tach-all now. Wait about 8-10 months and include it in the package for your new L-series that you're going to buy next year. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks. Please post an update if you're able to get a price quote.

jcollins,

Thanks for the images. The two downsides I perceive with that setup are:

Non-rigid forks don't allow downpressure to be applied. Might this be a problem when picking up logs, etc. that are flat on the ground?

And of course the fact that the weight is shifted forward about 2', reducing capacity.

Both may be acceptable trade-offs, depending on what you need to do.

I really liked the quick detach idea ever since I saw it in action on a tc 40d. I think all tractors should have it as standard equipment.

Jason,

Interesting idea. But I think the share the lack of visability that I experience with my clamp on forks...thanks for pointing out that site.

Rick,

I think I finally have realized that the B2910 is the perfect machine for most of my needs... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Probably will never go any larger... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Then again... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Fishman, if/when I get a price I will post it here... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Henro,

I have an ATI tach-all for my B21. I purchased Northern's 250 lb weight & 2000 lb rating pallet forks after the forks that clip on the bucket proved ineffective. Since my tractor and yours seem to be roughly equivalent [B21 has 925 lb lift capacity], you will have the same problems with "clip-ons". The capacity is greatly reduced. I could move only 3 80 lbs squares of shingles on a pallet. The shift in the center of gravity impacted the stability of the tractor even on a smooth front lawn. It was easier to put the shingles in a wheelbarrow than to mess with the tractor. After this "failure", I bought the forks. Night and day difference. When it takes 20 seconds to remove a bucket and put on forks, you totally alter the scope of your projects. When you can touch material with your hands just once and then move it with the machine you get more ambitious with your projects, safer with your body, and much better looking.
Good luck.
Paul.

Are you suggesting that if I get an ATI Tach-all, I'll be better looking? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I'm in! Heck my BX22 probably couldn't even lift the darn thing.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder..... Don't underestimate the BX22..... just think of it as "the little engine that could" (childrens story) /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have been following your thread. Since you are not specific about your need to use Skid Steer, attachments I will give you the thread to the Kubota Quick Coupler that gives you the ability to change 402 FEL attachments. I have four attachments that I use with my Quick Coupler. Two FEL buckets (one has tooth bar), Kubota Pallet Forks, and Curtis 6 1/2’ snow blade. I plan to modify my boom pole to quick attach to the coupler this winter. I am always switching between one of the buckets and the pallet forks.
This operation only takes about 5 minutes. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You will not have to modify your bucket to fit the Quick Coupler.

There is also a thread in the middle of one of the threads of a Quick Attach made by a fellow TBN’er. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Ron and all, thanks for you input!

I know I have been kind of vague on the need to use skid steer attachments...probably because I don't have a need to do so! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif But the desire is there... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The driving force is the want of something better than clamp on pallet forks, because I can't see what I am doing with the bucket in the way, and also for the reasons PaulK pointed out.

Ron thanks for the pointer to those links. I will jump right over and read those threads as soon as I post this!

Not sure why, but my gut is telling me if I had a quick attach I would find myself is a similar situation to that guy who built the baseball field:

If you buy one they [the attachments] will come... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bobcat sells the pieces. People custom make attachments for thier skid steers. I checked while renting a Bobcat for work my Kubota could not do, nor fit in to. I did not though, ask about the price for the bare attach plates.

I have used a Bobcat S185, 463, and B200. The S185 and 463 are skid steers. the B200 is a semi CUT TLB with all wheel steering. All three had the standard Bobcat quick-tach.

If you can do it, it would be a handy setup to have. I like having a smooth material bucket and a tooth bucket to switch back and forth.

Without forward hydraulics, it would limit attachments you could use though.
