They allow you to use your impact driver with no danger of over torquing. No strong arm work for this old man. I’m not going to hand torque 32 lug nuts.

I see. I have a bunch of nice torque wrenches but it may be nice just to "whiz" lugs on with an air gun.

I use a Makita impact w/auto stop that can be set anywhere from 'Stop at first 'impact' (~ 10ft/lbs) , to full on 'try to snap it off' (~450+ft/lbs). Usually run them up on the low setting, then again at the next higher when the tires are on the ground (~60lbs), then final torque by hand.
