Sub Soiler

Does anyone know of a heavy duty sub soiler suitable for a 43 h.p. tractor? The last one weighed 170# and broke in half while engaging shallow roots from a scrub oak tree....the very first time put in the soil! Turns out the shank was made of cast iron.

I have such a sub soiler, I just don't the details, so I'll have to get back to you next week

It's a Cat I/II - you can replace the tip if you ever wear it out, goes about 24" deep.

I use mine to pull rocks out of the ground prior to tilling.

Gearmore GR300. It is cat.2, but, of course you can put cat.1 pins in it. Has 24" shank- you need to make sure it will clear the ground with the 3pt all the way up. Mine just barely does, with hyd. top link fully extended. If not, the GR200 has 20" shank, but is not nearly as stout.

Well I'll be darned. Looks like I bought part of an antique sub soiler. I was at an auction recently and accidentally made a $1.00 bid on a rusty piece of metal. No one else was interested, so I got it, though I had no idea what it was. It looks like the business end of the sub soilers at that site, and has a removeable/reversible tooth. Someone said he thought it was an old Ford or Ferguson attachment of some kind. Now all I have to do is figure out how to hang it on my 3Pt.....maybe I could bolt it to my carryall.

I have a Worksaver R130. I believe it's rated to 50 hp, and there's no way you could break it on a root.

I got this spring, and it was about $400.
