Stuck yanmar 165D

When I unloaded the tractor, the loader worked perfectly. I drove the tractor around for about 15 minutes and then the valve handle stuck and started acting up. Got the valve handle unstuck, but now it just moves down slow, as in like an inch in 5 seconds

That sounds a lot like a piece of debris got dislodged and stuck somewhere, either in the valve, or in the reservoir as @rScotty suggested. A not uncommon thing to happen after being trailered in my experience, and not just for tractors.

Can you post photos of the back and bottom of the control valve? Most valves have ports that can be unscrewed to clean the passageways, but without seeing yours, it is hard to advise, beyond get the control valve absolutely clean, as in "open heart surgery clean" before opening anything. (Scrub off, pressure wash, brake cleaner plus scrubbing, wipe with clean cloth. Then start to open a fitting, and hit the first few threads with more brake cleaner, and a cloth if necessary. You can't be too compulsive about this in my book.)

Thanks. So, I just got it to lower fine, then it acted up again. It's almost like the open center is sticking.....when I do run it down after it sticks and it goes ultra slow, I will get hydraulic fluid come out of the blow off port after apx. 20 seconds of trying to boom down. Also, if I unscrew the access ports, are they under pressure to where they could injure me?

As far as power steering there have been many conversions done to Electric Power Steering a popular part is the 02-07 Saturn Vue unit with an aftermarket control unit, such as;

with something like this added, it can be done without this though;

People who DIY, yes.

Some of the MTD Cub Cadets tractors have them too. This works for the SCUT machines as they are smaller.

Even old small tractors like this Farmall.

Does that device simply amplify the force of turning the steering wheel?

It seems like that might stress the components beyond it, more than they were designed for.

Whoa! I can not believe how quickly this thread turned.

It went from a stuck engine due to prolonged inactivity with Every sort of "do this , do that"
To

It then turned it over to a REAL mechanic! (page 13)
and in less than three posts...to Tire selection.

Damn, the internet is a mile wide and an inch deep.

Might have to give up on it all together.

But then where would I get my chuckles?

Don't even think about stopping until you are close to 100 pages, you have at least 70 more pages to go!

Other than the huge repetition of suggestions from people clearly not reading even a post above them, I appreciate the thread as I like to see someone's journey in getting a brick turned back into a functional tractor... a task that while I'm not likely to undertake myself, there are definitely parts of it that many of us will encounter on our own journeys.

I for one look forward to seeing @millard762 happily using the tractor to the fullest in the future - please keep posting!

To me it's a work in progress, and things will change as progress is made in one area and then something else comes up.
