Stuck, really stuck

My mistake... the pole caught traction, the tractor flipped over in the mud and crushed him.

Story here. Warning, graphic content. Sad.

Wow🥵

Digging a watering hole for deer (low lying land, water table is just six or so feet down). Going great, hit the water - now to clean up the dug out slop. That’s where the “fun” started. Using the bucket to smooth it out and 1.5’ from the hole was too close, all tires stuck and just a bit of spin and I slide backwards/left into the hole. Three tires are out of the hole - but rear left and the backhoe are in the hole. LS 342 shuttle shift

Tried hooking a chain to my 2500 Cummins but couldn’t get enough traction.

Debating whether my 12k warn and a snatch block will do it. Oh! And now it’s raining so move quick before half the tractor starts practicing to work as a submarine… 🤦‍♂️
I have been there and done that. It is tough enough getting a tractor out of muck without a backhoe hanging on the back. A small crawler is about the only thing that will yank it out of there.

I got stuck near the creek in very muddy soil. 4WD and all four slipping. Added a Harbor Fright 12,000 pound electric winch to the rear Roll Over frame, working shin deep in the mud! Unstuck!

Stucks happen.

What worked against me in this case was the long travel suspension, making it quite hard to lift the rear out. It kept slipping back into the holes.

Another drawback was having the dozer blade installed. Instead of being able to lift the front with the bucket and slide on it, the blade dug in when the rear was high enough.

Oh well, pulled it out with the other one. Now there's an 18K winch on the stuck one, which would've allowed me to winch while driving it out instead of pulling dead weight.View attachment 4036223View attachment 4036224View attachment 4036225

The square plates at the front and back of the truck bed are outriggers. They pull out and drop down. Fully extended they will lift the tires off the ground.
Yep, but they are not meant to keep the vehicle in place, but to stabilize it when using the crane - especially when turned to the side and fully extended. Far from strong enough to keep the vehicle from moving fore or aft.

There are two "sockets" front and rear to put stout pieces of tubing in and those are to prevent movement.

Nice! I ran a 'blower on my first FLU419, the one that was used to pull the stuck one out, until getting a skid steer to run the 'blower.

I miss the heated windshield, it made things much easier than the simple wiper on the skid steer.

Here's what I've done in the past in such a situation. I have a 9000 lb rescue winch on a removable 2-inch receiver mount. I have a two-inch receiver bolted on a three-point drawbar. Pulling out backwards slowly with a double line (snatch block attached to a tree) worked well once. The other time I had to pull forward. Without a two-inch receiver anywhere on the front I just chained the winch mount to the bucket and pulled it out, again with a doubled line through a snatch block chained to a tree. Easy-peasy - just go slow.

This reminded me of visiting the beach just South of St. Augustine FL where autos were permitted to drive.
Apparently a lot of people drove a motorhome onto the beach and got stuck in the sand. A man has an old military wrecker similar to "too many Kabotas". His minimum charge for just showing up at the beach was $500, then $300/hr as soon as he hooked onto what needed towed off the beach. That was in 2008.

We would stick stuff in the marsh all the time. Had good luck chaining multiple vehicles together in a tow line - whatever we could talk guys into hitching up to it: tractors, argos, quads, 4x4… didn’t matter
