All I can say is I own the Husky 455 and it has been an excellent saw. Now, the chain brake went to pieces long ago - but it runs and cuts great.
My Stihl experience is with the HT131 polesaw. It too appears to be an excellent product.

A little off topic... brother has 3 Stihl 170 saws with 16 inch bar for his Christmas Tree Business... hard use because of all the start and stop... so far OK
I think I posted earlier in this thread I would take a 455 over a 290 anyday. Now that the 291 replaced the 290. Might want to check that out. If it runs and cuts anything like the 311 I just worked on it will be nice. 311 replaced the 310.
