Steering wheel knob placement

I have one of the streamlined plastic spinners noted above. Didn't want the possibility if getting cut or scraped by metal if I slipped or caught something.

Its position wanders due to HST steering. Never cared enough to hold the steering to its lock to creep it into a specific position even though its easy to do & ive known how to do it for years. I may have had a specific position in mind when I put it on, but thats irrelevant now. Thought about putting a 2nd one on, but have never gotten around to it.

I'd never put one on my truck or a road car though. You steer tight & hard with a tractor all the time but rarely with a road vehicle. Greater speeds & crashes with a road car giving them the name suicide knob, but those aren't present in tractoring.

I run a few other tractors, primarily for snow removal & manure handling. Really miss the suicide knib when I run them. Palming the wheel is just a lot less secure & more likely to slip when spinning fast for a tight turn.

Would be interesting to know what percent of tractor owners on this forum have a spinner mounted to the steering wheel ?

For about 30 years I drove a tractor-snowmobile trail groomer, there was one other driver that would always install a spinner when he drove and I hated it so always removed it but it was one of those spinners with the metal frame work.

So after reading here about the plastic frame spinners bought one at tractor supply yesterday, if still don’t like it I will hopefully be able to return it and get the $16.99 back.

well a few days after buying it I returned it for a 100% refund, never even bothered to install it.
