Grading Stalling

That was incorrect, sometimes like shutting off the key,sometimes dropping rpm up and down then dying ,then a few try’s to start. I go look at clear water separator, and fuel seems to be pretty much to the top maybe half inch down.
Coiuld that be a clue? I don't often look at the fuel bowl on mine, but I don't ever remember seeing it less than completely full. If it was half an inch down I'd have a look at why the fuel bowl had air trapped in it.

I had one experience (in a way similar) in the past when my B2910 was new.

It would run strong then lose power, RPM would drop and it would almost stall out. I would stop and then the RPM would pick up again and I could use it for loader work for a while and then the same thing would happen again.

The tractor was very new. I don’t remember the hours but it could’ve been less than 100 total on the tractor. Nothing made sense and I called the dealer about taking the tractor back under warranty and checking it out which he agreed to do.

On a whim, I decided to change the fuel filter. I couldn’t believe that with such a low hours the fuel filter would be the problem. But it was easy to do.

That fixed the problem. I also learned what diesel fuel taste like as I couldn’t believe the filter that I took out could be blocked even though it sort of had an odd color. The only quantifiable test I could think of was to seal my lips around it and blow air through it and estimate the back pressure that I sensed in my mouth. I couldn’t blow any air at all through that filter! It was like I had a rubber plug in my mouth! I also gained a sense of taste for diesel fuel! (negatives often bring positives with them!)

I bought a spare fuel filter and 1600 hours later that spare filter is still waiting to be installed. I had bought some off-road diesel from a small place not too far from where I live and apparently it was either loaded with algae or just simply dirty to begin with. Learned my lesson and since then have always bought it from high-turnover reputable places. But since it was a fair distance to travel to get off road fuel that I had faith in, I soon decided it was just simpler to buy on road fuel locally.

That was over 20 years ago. If I remember right the original post mentions the water separator but I don’t remember if the fuel filter was changed or not as I type this. (actually dictate, now I can blame dictation for spelling and grammatical mistakes)

But even if the fuel filter was changed if you somehow got some really dirty fuel perhaps the replacement filter was also affected.

Not sure if my past experience relates or not.

Is there a ' Breather / Air Vent ' for your Fuel Tank ( never saw one without it )? If so, you might want to Clean it ... if it's in the Tank Cap, might have to Replace it, ... tank not getting air will shut down until the Suction/Vapor Lock is relieved.
Removed file while stalling and no relief also thoroughly cleaned cap

New fuel filter good for 1 1/2 hours then back to stalling tractor has 340 hours. something else. It seems strange I can shut off the fuel at the water separator and the tractor keeps running for quite some time 5 to 10 minutes which seems odd. Never had it stop running with the fuel off.

here’s where I’m at so far thanks for all the great suggestions.i Checked for flow after the fuel pump was just barely sputtering blew air backwards in the fuel line before the water separator couldn’t really get it to siphon there, but I did check the water separator filter, banjo, bolt inlet, and it had a plug of grass or manure in it. Cleaned this out and try running tractor today. See how it performs. Going to put a in-line fuel filter because the banjo bolt is so small. it doesn’t allow debris to make it to the screen filter on fuel water separator hoping for the best. I will respond after any changes thank you all

You likely find your issue. But that brings up one question. How did that grass/manure get in there to begin with?

Perhaps time to adapt a filter of some type to your fuel inlet at the tank. While I’ve never needed one, I know some use stainless steel tea strainers ( that are cylindrical and if you’re lucky just fit perfectly in the tank inlet).

Wish I could remember a link somewhere where these have been discussed in detail: maybe somebody else has one…

Thanks I ran the Tractor more couple hours with no problems. I am going to put the in-line fuel filter before the water separator. I use paint strainer for a 5 gallon bucket at the filler neck. The stainless steel ones for other Kabotas , don’t fit.

That was a clue, like you said the banjo bolt to the inlet of the waterseparator, had a plug of grass or manure running good so far

That was a clue banjo bolt at fuel inlet was clogged cleaned it running good so far, put in line filter,thanks rscotty
