I'm getting ready to start my spring food plots. I've got all the equipment I need except a spreader. I'm planning on borrowing another fellow's spreader. I've seen it. Don't remember the brand. Its green, but not JD or Frontier. Looks like a generic cyclone spreader.

All of my plots are small, but using a push spreader is awful (even my nice one with big pneumatic tires:rolleyes: ). So this spreader should work fine.

However, I've disked a pretty good stretch of woods roads and plan to plant cowpeas in them. I'm just wondering, on these typical spreaders, can the pattern be narrowed at all? Narrow enough for woods roads?

Thanks.

About the most effective way to narrow the pattern would be to reduce the PTO (engine) RPM... but you need to watch that the pattern stays even across the spread width when you do that.

I guess I'll just have to experiment a little. But with the price of seed and fertilizer these days experimenting can be a little pricey.
