Sprayer Sprayer

I'm looking for some advice on a sprayer. Use is for Roundup along the gravel drive (750') and around the rest of the property. Mostly spot work, other than the edges of the drive.

I currently have a three gallon backpack, hand pump model which I do not care for. It's clumsy and doesn't hold enough.

It looks like my choices are a larger backpack, stand-alone electric pump/tank unit or three point unit in either electric or PTO pump. I found a stand-alone 15 gallon rig that I could carry in my FEL bucket and operate from my tractor seat. Seems like a decent option but before I commit I'd like to hear what others do.

I'm mostly doing what you are and find the 15 gal unit about right. I've used it in the fel, made a rack clamped to the rops above the 3ph, now have it in the bed of my golf cart. 25 gal might be nice and don't cost that much more but w/ 15 I can manhandle it full if needed, etc.
I got a boom sprayer for it too and it's much more efficient than the spot sprayer when you have the occasion to use it, ie, driveways, etc. If you have interest in a boom, make sure you get checkvalves in the nozzles, you'd be amazed how much leaks out after shutting it off ... usually right where you don't want it.

That would work, I think. I mount my 15 gallon sprayer on top of my disc harrow, or sometimes my spring tooth cultivator. I strap it down with bungee cords. I have been thinking of carrying it in the bucket since I got the FEL.

I've got a Fimco 3point version from agri-supply. I spent a few bucks on quick couplers for it so I can easily break the setup down to fill the pump with anti-freeze for storage (reduces corrosion). I don't remember if it is the 55 or 60 gallon, but has break away boom & hand sprayer attachments. It worked great to spray herbicide that wiped out my clover infestation.

If you think you'll ever use it to spray product on your lawn/field - get the three point / pto version. Not terribly expensive - $750 when you factor in couplers, pump & shipping.

... says the guy with the brand-spanking new tractor coming!!! Overall, I agree but I just don't see myself spraying large areas. Based on what I've read so far, I'm leaning towards a Fimco 30 gallon "economy" spot sprayer. It's more tank than I probably need but a higher output pump than the off-brand 15 gallon I saw. I'll have another look tomorrow and make a final decision.
