Fair enough, Mate. All I'm saying is that if you've got something, like a helmet with face shield, laying about why not wear it?
It's no skin off my arse and I don't think a citation from the Fashion Police is going to stop me from taking a reasonable precaution.

Life is full of risks. You can't go around wearing safety gear for any possible accident. A piece of wood flying off the splitter is extremely unlikely. A piece of wood flying off my lathe is much more likely, and I do wear a face shield while turning. Wearing a face shield while chainsawing is also reasonable protection. I doubt many people wear a face shield while operating a tractor for the much more likely chance of being hit be a branch.
