Hi all,

Does anybody have good experiences to share with the Split-Fire 3403 bi-directional 3PH splitter? The 3403 has the 4-way knife. It's the only bi-dir 4-way that I've come across.

I want to use it on my Kubota L3800HST, which has 6.3 gpm max on the implement pump. Is that enough?

I don't think I can justify the cost of their standalone units...

The right flow in GPM's, is the flow that will let you operate the splitter safely. If you purchase it, then you have to accept what it is. You can figure out the cycle time by knowing the size of the cyl and GPM's. You can also determine the push and pulling force, knowing the pressure and size of the cyl.

I have a Split Fire 3203 with my Case IH DX-33.

The flow is around 6 gpm and I get more than enough power. I splitted 24 in. diam maple logs with ease.

With a small flow you only get slower speed. I use it at 2000RPM and the speed is good enough for my back and safe use.

I an quite pleased with the unit.

Thanks Pierre, I appreciate the real-world feedback.

The cylinder volume is almost exactly 1 gallon, so that makes the calculations easy... One uni-directional stroke in 10 seconds, a complete cycle in 20 sec, at max rpm / 6 gpm, I guess...

The return/retract stroke is faster due to the shaft taking up space, less fluid. The extend stroke has more power.
