Here is what I've been using for years and thought that I could share. (2) 4'x8'x3/4" plywood will yeild (4) small and (1) large saw horse. the best part is they store flat and you can just cut through them.Eventually you just trim them down. I provided my cut sheet and you can modify it as needed.;)

What do you use?

That's certainly something new to me. Pretty neat idea.

Phil, graet idea, I have similar ones made of 1 inch plywood, I made them to put under the truck camper when taken off the truck, work great due to the fact the height is the same as my truck bed and when the camper is on the truck they come apart and store against the wall

Great idea! I am going to definitely have to use that one. My kind of project. Quick and useful.:) Thank you.

The only downside i see is they likely only work well on flat ground. Due to there large ground contact any uneven ground would create a more unstable "saw horse" than the standard kind.

Thanx, I have about ten sets and use them all the time. I find the 4' ones work good outside uneven ground has yet to be a problem but i'm sure that will happen and I will just break out the ones with 4 legs. I suppose one could cut the bottoms to only touch on the outer edge, or shim with blocks. Cutting a 4x8 sheet on top of 2 big ones is great set saw depht and the pieces won't bind.
good luck
Phil

What is the side notch for in the real life pictures? We used to use smaller versions like that with square seats notched in at the top for compact seating at the fair.

Donman,
That notch is from when I originally made 4' long ones. It was a hand slot to carry them.
