So how's business?

I was just curious to see how tractor business was going this year in different parts of the country. For me, the first part of the year was pretty decent, but once summer came around, it's fairly slow. But that seems to be the theme for this area for this year. Alot of the contractors and small service businesses in this area seem to be having a slow season when this is usually the busiest time of year.
Even a couple of mom and pop stores I've talked to, are surprised how this summer season has just dropped off. It seems to be regional problem, with some regions doing better than others.

the thing is when every needs goes up to high.people start hanging on to their money an pinching it.only buying stuff when they have to.

Seemed slow last year but I have been busy since Nov 2011 on, hope it stays that way too.

When inflation takes hold it usually means consumers will buy more now as the they know the price is only going to go up in the future. This in turn feeds inflation and we get a nasty cycle going. I don't think we need worry about that now.
Business has sucked for my industry since '08. Low demand and too many players have forced prices down to the point that only players with little or no debt can net 1 or 2% profit. If your carrying debt you best have an understanding banker.

I am in north central FL and it was slow the end of the year and the first part of the new year but now I have been working non-stop but the spring and summer are always busy, I can only hope that it keeps going but I am real nervous about the up coming election, I know that we need some really good leadership to help get us growing and prospering again, this is the longest bad time that I have ever experienced in my lifetime.

I'm right out straight and have been for a couple of years. But I'm spending government money they pumped in to prime the economic pump and I don't think they will be able to keep it up at this rate after the election no matter who wins. For my part I've stimulated the economy with some of my ill gotten gains. Bought a new tractor this year a new pick up last year and the Misses is having a new (Very nice) kitchen put in. I'm watching it like a hawk and if it goes south I will cut back in a big way and the waitress at the breakfast restaurant will need to find a new big tipper.

I know what you mean about too many players and low prices. It seems of late, everyone with any kind of equipment is throwing their name out there. Half of them don't have a business license, let alone any kind of insurance. Then on top of that, they only charge enough money for beer. I've had stick to a bottom line just so I can make some profit, luckily all my equipment is paid for.

There is no grass for the cattle. The hay for fall is being used since June. (5) dairys closed just took cattle to local sale barn.
Our place the man leasing took his cattle off the property saying if have to feed might just as well place near where the hay is stored.
Need something to happen the country will only go back ward like this.
No one ever told me that the Gov. is the one who built the business always
was thinking by the sweat of the brow did it produce and grow.

No help for the working man. The big government pay outs go right to the top. Look up to find the problem, not down.
