Snowblower Snowblower chain lube

I saw motorcycle chain lube as being a good lube for snowblower drive chains. Something that will not sling off at max. R.P.M. Tonight I tried chainsaw bar oil. After an hour of blowing I found an acceptable amount of lube on the chain. This was much better than the waterproof snowmobile grease I had been using and was a fraction of the price. I will have to apply every other time though. smoky

After posting above, I took note of the difference between bar lube and chain lube. Chain lube seems to be a better product, but I have not tried it yet. I will purchase a can at Napa and give it a try. I'll then post my results. smoky

I've been using chainsaw bar oil on my BX2750 blower chain for 5 years now and have never had a problem. I have an old pump oil that I use exclusively for the blower and I have that filled with the bar oil. I pump some oil down on to the top of the chain while it's rotating to get good penetration. I do that through a vent hole in the top of the chain guard...it saves me pulling off the guard housing. I don't see a lot of the oil getting slung around, but don't mind if it does. Make up a wick oiler system or a bump or jiggle drip oiler... worked on the oldies..
