Snow tires

OK I have a 1/4 mile driveway yesterday we got about 18" or more my plow truck is a 01 2500HD and it has 16" tires copper AT3 and when I plow the plow frame and truck gets caught in the high snow!. So my question is how hight can I put the truck up and still plow?.

You don't need to put the truck up to plow, you need to put the plow down.

Sounds like you need a snow blower on the front of something! If you lift your truck for bigger tires you'll only add more stress to it.

Tallest reasonably available and priced tire is 33", whether it be on a 16 or 20" rim. The 20" rim variety are big $.....

i plow with a 2014 2500HD with 32.1" tires on it. I think the 14 has more ground clearance though. What size 16" do you have now, probably 245/75 or 265/75? A 285/75/16 is about 32.5, but you're going to have to crank your torsion bars up and you may not gain enough height with the extra weight of the plow to clear them.

Maybe the front end is sagging because your torsion bars are worn and they just need to be replaced?

Before I got the tractor I went looking for a plow to put on my truck. Since the truck is lifted and modified but in a good and much stronger way than it came from the factory, still no plow maker wanted to talk to me about putting a plow on a modified truck. Therefore I gave up looking for a plow and got the tractor.

Why in the world are you putting the truck in the deep snow? You should be plowing your path so that the truck is on cleared ground. :confused3:

Because there is ice under neath the snow not on purpose I rather just plow but have to deal with ice! Ashes from the outside is good to get unstuck.

Taller tires aren't gonna solve your problem. 3" taller tires, if you can even clear them, only add 1.5" of ground clearance.

Lifting the truck screws up the geometry of the plow. The plow a frame has to remain level or it will be screwed up when angled. If you raise the truck and the aframe becomes on a downhill angle, it won't plow level when angled.

If you don't want to deal with the ice under the snow, put shoes on and plow 2-3".
