Got the first opportunity a couple of weeks ago to use my NH TN65 4WD for snow removal. I use a LandPride 96" backblade along with the 32LA loader on the tractor.

If you set the backblade up properly by allowing it to contour the ground, it works like a charm; as long as you're going forward. Only problem is when you get to the end, have to use the loader.

Tried using the loader to clear paths. It takes awhile to coordinate the bucket level with enough down pressure to make a smooth clearing.

Does anyone have similar experiences or could add some tips on snow clearing using the above attachments?

BTW...I didn't need the chains on the rear tires; four wheel drive works just fine.

Chuck,
Going to get my first try tomorrow. I think your snow is coming my way. I have a KK 7' blade. I'll let you know

I live 30 minutes from that area. If the wind would have blown a little differently it would have hit us. That lake effect is something else. 12 foot snow totals in 7 days for some areas. I like a good snow storm, but that is way out of control.

Getting ready for a Nor' easter today. Only 1-2 feet forecast. That's nothin'. Ha!

FWIW I typically put the loader lift (arms) into "float" and then tilt or curl the bucket to "bite", "scrape" or "skim", depending on direction of travel, over the place to be cleared. It is a lot easier if the surface is frozen or paved until you develop "finesse".

I plowed out the drive this morning. I find it much easier to rotate and angle the rear blade so that you drive in reverse and push the snow to the side. It works well up to about 6" of snow. I've pulled the blade but found that the tractor tires compact the snow as I drive over it and then the blade has to try to get the compacted snow up, in SOME snow conditions that is not a problem. But if the snow is wet enough to turn into an ice base then the tractor can slide sideways while the tractor is trying to clear the snow/ice base. Rotating the blade and pushing in reverse eliminates that problem completely. I usually have the blade angled about 30 degrees to the side when pushing it. I start in the middle and just push to either side.

Over 6" of snow I connect up the blower and have a lot of fun. :D We are due for 6" to 12" of snow this afternoon so the blower will get a little workout later.

I only use the FEL, no blade on back. I also put mine on the float position and have the level indicator about even where it comes out of the tube. Our driveway is black top so that does make scraping easier.

My experience is the same as Oleozz's: FEL on float, with level indicator to keep it level. Have used back blade both moving forward and backward. Backward works the best to clear down to pavement. Makes a pretty nifty combo: FEL in front and blade turned around for going backwards.

First time was great. I was so excited to play in the snow. The back blade worked good. I angled it and pulled it through 8". Worked fine!! The FEL used to get rid of the piles. Felt like a little kid getting ready to go sledding. Got on the carharts, hat, extra sweatshirt, gloves........wife yells out don't forget your scarf!!!!!! Didn't even know I had one. Ran out the door yellin
THANKS MOM!!!
