Snow Plowing a Gravel Drive - Problem Solved!!!

With winter coming up, IM bumping this for those who may want to see it..

I was given a Land Pride RB1572 rear blade and got the horse mat installed on it this week.. Overall its pretty simple, the biggest issue was trying to get the edge+rubber lifted up and bolted to the blade the first time.. Once I got the first bolt in everything else was easier..

FYI - the bolts that came off the rear blade were 2" long 5/8" carriage bolt "type" (they set flush into the scraper edge).. Lowes didnt have 5/8" bolts so I went with 3" long, 1/2" bolts - DO NOT get carriage bolts (unless you want to make another trip back to Lowes - you need to be able to keep the bolt from turning) get regular headed bolts.. I used flat washers on both ends of the bolts. I also went with a lock washer and nuts with the nylon/locking inserts.

Im excited to see how this works this year.. First year with this blade and chains for the rear tires

I also bought some skid shoes for a Polaris ATV Ranger to put on the bottom of my bucket to keep it from digging into the gravels driveways I clear..

Have you ever tried pulling the blade backwards. Works well for me

I just don't understand how this rubber mat added, " would not still pick-up stone',
can someone explain this to me.

I think its because the rubber mat folds/bends, so its not a solid point on the ground.. I think of of the pics in Post #1 shows how it bends

The main reason I wanted to try the rubber mat was that it is wearing the sealer off my asphalt driveway. After a really snowy year I have to reseal my driveway due to all the wear. Same reason for trying the skid shoes I bought for the bucket.

I did not read close enough and yes my blade does remove sealer from the paved part of our driveway. Sounds like your solution will work really well
