Snow Snow in Kent County

All day yesterday the news was full of watches and "Heavy Snow Warnings" (Ooh, scary!) /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Sure, sure, we'll believe it when we see it. Well, it did start coming about 6:30pm and this morning we had a good amount of the heavy, wet stuff. I measured 6" on my deck table. The light, fluffy snow we had in December was no test for my B3030 with a 5' Landpride rear blade. I did find out that I needed something wider than 5' to push the snow out past the wheels so I traded it back in to my dealer, plus a $100, for a 6' model. This was the first time I got to use it and it handled it just fine.

Are those standard Land-Pride skid shoes on your blade? If not got some pictures of them?

No. I made them myself from some stuff I had laying around. I will take some pictures and explain how I made them. They work good although I wish I would have made the pads a little bigger so they slide over the grass and stone better. They work good on the concrete driveway. Keeps the cutting edge from wearing out.

Toolguy, try running your rear blade in reverse by turning facing backwords. That way you can plow deeper snow without getting stuck by driving through it. Thats how we roll in our L4200.

When it snows in Kent County it never snows in Monroe, Wayne or Washtenaw Counties.

With the 2wd farm tractors we had when I was a kid, backing up was about the only way you could plow with a rear blade. With this tractor in 4wd and the turf tires I have not had any problems pulling the snow forward. If it gets that deep I will use the FEL.

I have an old Meyers front blade ready to be mounted up for next year. I just didn't have time to do it this year. If I spent less time on TBN I probably would have been using it by now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
